I'm having to prime the carb multiple times until the pump gets gas up to the carb when starting the car after its sat overnight. Once it's warmed up though it runs fine. 66 Lark. 72 350 w/mech pump &Carter comp series carb.
choke , no choke ? I normally have to tap the pedal a couple times prior to starting cold . I currently have no choke so an extra pump on chilly mornings . and that is garaged . and on a warm day after running ( depending upon what carb I am running at the time ) sometimes it will start right up with just the key . your car may need that initial pump shot to get some juice in there .
I'm thinking air leak or your pumps on the way out.(or both) If one of the rubber lines has cracked it will suck air and make it very hard to bring fuel up from the tank.
If it happens overnight, that is excessive. Sounds like the fuel is either leaking out or boiling out of the carburetor. More common with a Q-jet with leaking well plugs or hot running engine. The Carter AFB has 2 fuel bowls so that shouldn't happen so quickly.
I agree, excessive. It didn't do this before I parked it. Even when it was cold she fired up almost immediately. When it happened the first time the other day I thought maybe the fuel line was clogged. I disconnected below the fuel filter, attached the Mighty Vac to the line and after a few seconds of pumping (sucking? LOL) I got gas. I reattached the hose, disconnected at the carb and repeated. Got gas there too. Reconnected, hopped in, cranked her over a couple times and she fired up.
