I'm the same way. I also happen to have friends with kids that are actually responsible and in college that I'll let house sit. Need someone to take care of Chopper my shotgun riding shih tzu and watch the cars and yard.....
I thought the car was pulled off the assembly line with the black carpet, and the white was laid on top of it when they built it for the show circuit. I'd heard John restored it back exactly that way with the black underneath.
I have often though about what if I owned a rare Buick such as Brad's GSX or any of them. How would I be? paranoid at the thought. Even owning a pristine version may even make me paranoid. It probably will never happen though. So why worry. Tim
Immke's owned the 68 GS...it is no more, sadly. Just to put these photos in perspective, the young ladies portrayed are now in their late 60's-early 70's.
The car was purchased by Online Motorsports in Plainfield, IL in 2014. They sold it as purchased so whomever the new owner is removed the white carpeting. I saw the car in person in their showroom. If I remember correctly the black carpeting was under the white carpeting. Not sure if it came that way from the factory or not. It definitely is a beautiful GS.
Just for comparison. A couple pix I collected when it was for sale by the sellers(not sure which time). I have learned when you use the "upload" feature your pic name must be less than 100 characters. So I couldn't do that.
In Australia we have Heritage Protection laws that prevent you from demolishing or altering a House with historical significance. If you want to repaint it or do any maintenance you have to get approval for the type of work, type of paint or materials and the colours used. The same laws should apply to significant cars. That car should never be allowed to be altered, same with Brad's GSX and countless other rare and special vehicles.
