OEM or aftermarket?

I have a 72 GS350 that didn't have working ac when I bought it. The compressor bracket is there, but no compressor. The large box that mounts to the passenger side of the fire wall is broken and there is a hole (rectangular) where it should be that is filled with an old rag(yeah, I know) for the time being. The cylindrical tube that I've seen on ac cars that mounts to the front side of the radiator support isn't there either. The fan turns on when I turn on the heat but no air comes out of the vents, so I essentially have no heat, ac, nor defrost. My climate selector knob is stuck and won't move left or right-not that it would cool anything with all the missing hardware. So obviously I need to redo the entire setup, as the South Georgia humidity is brutal. Question is, should i go with an aftermarket vintage air (or equivalent if it exists) kit or are the OEM parts easy and cheap to come by?

Im not sure of the cost of the vintage air set ups but i have heard good things about them. I thought i had to have ac in my car (original ac car that someone ripped out) and hunted down all the parts and took it to the shop to have them re-due everything and in the end it was around $1200 in parts and labor.. The ac works pretty good but theres a noticeable difference in fuel economy so i rarley use it.

Guess I will try to hunt down all the parts for an OEM install. I'm sure someone here has a garage full and needs the space. Thanks for your reply. I probably won't use it often, but being able to defrost my windshield is something I would love. Hard to drive when its rainy out and my windows fog up. :)
