Thanks guys, I will pass that on. Its 14:30hrs and she's back home and sleeping it off. This is the trial for the real thing. Its a catheter that goes into the spinal fluid canal with a battery taped on yer back. It reprograms 40 years worth of pain signals into "non pain" signals. This part of the deal proves no nerve atrophy which seems positive so far. Its like a micro controlled TENZ unit. The Doc had to wait for her to wake up and then program it. They said a 50% decrease in pain was considered successful. She's been getting nerve blocks and been using oxycodone for about 5 years now. If it is successful, the catheter gets slipped out with a local in 2 days and then gets the real McCoy implanted permanently with a controller in the butt cheek. You hold the GD smart phone (!!) up against it to program it from, what else, a friggin' APP!

Just picked up my new heater core(chinesium) Spectra unit. Matches perfectly but is on about 1/2 to 3/4 as thick as the OEM harrison that only lasted 50+ years. gotta do some research now that I have a new one in hand... ws

The spectre/aluminum are just that way, they have a higher fin count tho,...Groundup and Summit among others have the thicker brass unit that fits like it should.

    The brass are $50~$80

Still gotta deal with that dog leg pipe though... The water boxes look pretty close to OEM and thats what it clamps on. I still hafta elongate the hole so Ill just do the chinaman thing. The engine side plenum should cover most of the hole... see Mikes pic. ws

Isn't that for changing serpentine belts to release the tension on the belt tension pulley?

No Bill, I was close but wrong. NO SPARK PLUG FOR YOU!(Says the Soup Nazi):D

The serpentine tool doesn't have that bend and the sockets are shorter to get into a tighter space than the clutch fan tool. I'm thinking you may have the socket on the wrong side. To get around the fan shroud I think the socket needs to be on the other side?

Yeah that's a nice score for $5! Looks like it would beat having to disconnect the fan shroud so you can get to those nuts by pushing the shroud towards the engine. Cool tool!

Started out today with removing and replacing the rocker buttons. Several more were in imminent point of failure mode. Very Brittle.. I'd recommend changing them out when ever youre' inside the valve covers! Just got two complete rocker shafts from a member here, and found bad buttons and both shafts were arrainged for being on the passenger side LRLRLRL haha... All the rockers were stamped L&R. Thats because the oiling hole "glances" to one side or the other SLIGHTLY. the old cast rockers need the oil to be GUIDED to the valve tips etc. Ive never sen stamped arms like that before, only the cast. Are these like t/A arms? The OEM dirty units are right here to compare. So the booster assembly is getting good and close for a final before launch. It still in the assembly building and probably gonna get moved to the launch pad next week. We are past the Saturn units and now using a URANUS VII model LOL...

Slept like a baby last night after taking Hugger the Sluggers' advice yesterday... THAT is why I ask the exspurts. FWIW, the HC fit "OK" into the plenum. A bit looser on the depth than I'd like to have seen, but acceptable. Since Im a one armed, one man band, placement of the sub assembly was gonna suck, so I hit them with a pre-emptive strike. I pre- notched the fire wall, BUT. after a trial run with the HC in my hand, I went ahead and trimmed a slot straight to the passenger side on the UPPER hose as well.

Who ever took this apart managed to tear up the soundproofing and insulation, but it was still there, in pieces. I pulled it off the firewall, including the inside gasket that was in a few pieces, but 97% there and GLUED it all back in place on the inner plenum. Duct sealant on a roll finished off the 1/2" that was missing. Works for me.

Just fer giggles, I was looking in the back seat for another cup of "Johnny Screws" and found the OEM foam rubber gasket for the engine side plenum. DANG! Absolutely usable albeit a bit dirty. Glued that on to the box and commence to install it. Turns out the box needs some custom blueprinting and clearancing for the dog leg nipple that Mr. BFH handled rather well. Needs a squirt of black paint in the judges eyes to take the cup!

Tested the blower motor and ran balls out, quiet, and about 2 amps. Johnny already painted it so after cleaning the paint off the connector (!) it went in. Finished up inside with all the cleaned and oiled cables with zero problems except for those damn JESUS clips on the control arms for retaining the cable ends. I know there must be an instal tool for them. The look like internal star washers about 3/32" ID. Wayy too small for the catchers' mitt; but I gottem' on.

Sot sitting there befuddled in the directors chair and making some tobacco carbon entrails, I decided to plastigage the oil pump end clearance. I put a few strategically place pieces on the OP gears and squeezed the cover dow. I used the .002- .006" stuff (RED). Found it to have about .0035" clearance. Packed it with "fresh scent vaseline" and buttoned the bastard up. DONE.

Rolled the block over (green side up LOL) and things looked good still. So as I was contemplating what to do for another hour in the shop, I pulled the Rhodes' lifrters apart, one at a time, and washed them clean in paint solvent, blew them dry, and prefilled with about 10 CC of fresh oil. and re-assembled. Thet are slightly more complex than a standard hydraulic lifter, but well wort the wash and wax with a pile of crap that came outa them. I actually had to dump the cleaning tray twice. I was using an artists' 1/2 bristle brush to wash the internal. Works for me. Installed o na freskly lubed cam with Lucasjiz assembly oil on all the lobes (!) and the bottom half of each lifter for that "Smooth as Silk" glide ino that soft warm hole, been there before, feeling.

Slept like baby Johnny last night dreaming about that new tool box... My typing finger is medium rare. ws

Still making progress in the Fortress of Solitude. Its lonely at the top LOL. Sometimes I feel like the "Master" from Fritz Langs' Metropolis. Sometimes I just slug along.

Got the fresh heads all cleaned up. Chased every threaded hole, and gave them the blow job. Got all the cleaned bolts doped up (!) and dropped the heads right onto the pins and pulled them down; then I realized I'd forgotten the headgaskets... NOT.

Pulled them down to 45, 75, and 100 lbs. Done. Masked and painted. In by 9, out by 5. Where'd that come from??? She's dressed in work clothes still; may put the chrome valve covers on later. Might make my deadline after all!

A special shout-out and thanks to my pal KINGFISH for being such a gracious benefactor too! Couldnt have done it without you George!! ws
