Thanks Pat! I am a little confused on the "Bucks" part...but finally got it! Best seats in the house. Plenty of shade and no funny business! You talking about muskrat love? There is a rather large Ford contingency up here from model T's to 50's Crown Vics up to the late teens mustangs with all the billet and neon light stuff. Not my cup-o-tea, but hell, its the love of the sport.
Youre never supposed to criticize a mans DOG, CAR or WIFE haha. He must see something in them!

OLD's are the Buicks siblings, just dress differently.

So Ive been seeing this Poncho by the boat yard all summer. Thought is was a 400, but upon closer examination... Complete with a trailer hitch no less! You all know who this is for LOL...

Plus a little yard art thrown in for good measure.... yeah! ws

Right, Joe said this morning he had to paint his rear or something. It is a really eclectic mix of cars you get there. We just have so much modern muscle around here now, like 30% or more show up. Where's the tuners?

So we all know about me and this is sure to raise some IRE. We also all know who the blow hards are, so we can eliminate them and cut to the chase.

I used to be a tugboat engineer for a guy in Duluth. This was around 2005 and post retirement, kinda just for kicks. My pal recently inherited (literally), a tugboat and in between then and now allowed his license to expire. He needs a captain.

Heres the deal. A bunch of barge towing jobs has just come up for him. Licensed captains dont grow on a tree like porkchops. These contracts commence like next week.

The boat: 1965 Bushey Co. built 88 foot collapsible pilot house unit with a 1800 horsepower Fairbanks Morse 10 banger 38D 8-1/8 diesel etc etc. Has 2 Detroit Diesel generators to keep this GM thred related!
The Captain needs to have a CURRENT and VALID 150 ton inland waters and near shore license with a Masters Towing endorsement. Generically speaking, the job pays 500.00 per day in addition to expenses per diem.

Also needed is an A/B deckhand with a current MMC (merchant mariners credential). I dont know the pay rate for the A/B, buts its pretty dang good these days.

The boat is stationed in Manitowoc Wi. and all the work is in this region. Usually no more than 1 day out and one day back. If you are interested and know what this is about, reply in confidence to me and Ill hook you up. Hows them apples??? ws

A simple question from the USCG engineers exam; this is only on the main engine. Not inclusive of all the onboard systems. I was never this complicated. Braniacs encouraged to try this... Google answers dont count LOL... ws

A turbocharged, eight cylinder, two-stroke/cycle diesel engine has a swept volume of 5160.31 cubic inches, a 9 1/16 inch bore, 10 inch stroke, and a compression ratio of 14.5 : 1. If during an overhaul, each cylinder head is to be trued by milling off .024 inches thereby losing 1.55 cubic inches from its clearance volume, what will be the resultant swept volume and new compression ratio?

So on 9-3-2020, I officially turned 65; never thought I'd make it! Now, being officially "old" I feel the burden of free speech being censored, an even more pressing issue. So today, this led to a little confusion.

At 0400 hrs today, I was enjoying my 2X cup of coffee and reading the bench here. One member here asked a question about global climate change and natural disasters. There was ZERO profanity or obscenity or POLITICAL RHETORIC in the post and I happened to agree with it. I guess it went against the "agenda" of one of the moderators, and he immediately locked the thred. I dont see why. I guess some of us that dont agree to disagree get locked out for failure to comply with certain peoples trains of thought.

In case anyone has noticed, real participation here is down. Lots of folks are afraid to speak their piece, and get sent to banned camp. I think if any of these sponsors really had a handle of what forum ownership and SPONSORSHIP was about, they would climb down off that Ol' Statue and mind their own business.
Some just take it upon themselves to become the enforcer.

OK. So the sponsors here dont want to be labeled as mono-partisan lest it hurt their business. I understand. Nobody can afford to lose income over a difference of opinion. Thats a "given". I thought it was good to see an adult thred about about the cootie virus. Again, that got closed down since it "ran its course" REALLY? Its just getting warmed up again...

So back to the censorship thing.

I am going to make a proposal, and I sincerely hope Jim W. reads this while he's recuperating (Good luck BTW Jim!!) that any member here in good standing can participate in a "moderator election". That's the ultimate bottom line of the democratic process. This will also have to include ALL moderators to be polled on locking, blocking removal or banning of any non conforming threds. Theres only one guy that makes decisions above the supreme court, and his number is UNLISTED, although I have him on speed-dial. Et Cum Spiritu tuo tuo is the preffix. Practice up on the Latin guys.

So is anyone up to this challenge? Its 2020 now and time to revamp old ideas and enlarge brains to fill the skull cavity.

Just to be on the informed side, feel free to read the following. ws

According to Amnesty International, around 30,000–50,000 internet police have been employed by the Chinese government to enforce internet laws. The Chinese government has described censorship as the method to prevent and eliminate "risks in the ideological field from the Internet".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inter..., around, ideological field from the Internet".
