Quick question. I took my motor out to put in the headers and while out i took the oil pan off to reseal it. I had it on an engine stand upside down for a couple day, so will i need to repack the oil pump before startup. Thanks

I would think you should be ok to just prime it up b4 you drop it in......if it wont prime then pack it.

You risk getting a different gasket thickness or broken bolt if you tear it apart.

Try priming it first before pulling the pump apart.
If your not familiar with the oil pump, you can end up with a can of worms.

I've done this before, replaced oil pan, engine upside down. Had no issues. I didnt prime it but in retrospect probably a good idea given how easy it is.

If it is still on a stand, it will prime right up. You could always tilt the engine over and pour oil into the sender hole if you have any problem. Don't pull the pump apart.

If its not broken, dont fix it!! Just prime it

IF you pour oil in the sending unit hole you will have to spin the oil pump in reverse to suck the oil into the gears. Then spin it forward.

As stated don't open up the pump unless necessary. Note the exact position of the distributer, pop it out, and spin the oil pump with a drill. Should prime right up with no problem.
