Oil pump issues

I'm rebuilding the oil pump with the high flow pump. Everything up to the point of torquing down has seemed to go right, but once torqued down the gears won't spin freely, or at all really.

I've loosened the bolts to where the gears will spin but with resistance to see where the wear marks will show (spinning by hand) it looks like a very minor spacing issue causing all this grief.

What's the proper call here, lightly sand the gear or add another gasket? Or something I haven't thought of?

the main question is why are you adding a hi volume oil pump? If your having low oil pressure, you probably have a bearing issue. Commonly the front cam bearing.

No, it's a fresh rebuild, haven't even got it back from the builder yet. I honestly just bought the wrong pump, but there's no harm in having it so why not.

I am aware that they have to potential to wear out the cam gear an also the front cam bearing due to moving more volume, but I'm not going for high pressure so that should help.

Standard volume will work fine. As said in that thread as close to .002 as you can get the better. Use the TA shim kit if needed.

I've already ordered the TA kit, and talked with the gentleman about the issue, he shed some light on why it was rubbing to begin with. But, I've already got the high volume, just going to use it.

I wouldn't. Its only another $30 for a pump. Part store pumps are the same as TA sells. Melling.
