    How about a scraper.
If you have a scraper, do u need a windage tray?

The scraper and tray are usually used together but no they do not have to be.

A scraper is a plus if installed correctly and will shave unwanted extra oil from the rotating assembly but does little to control the affects of windage on the oil in the sump. My Stef's pan pictured in my earlier posts incorporates an integrated basic scraper. I still have a Kenne-Bell scraper that I used to use on my first BBB engines.

I see. So by the pics you have a tray in the oil pan , a tray bolted to the girdle. I dont see room for a scraper at your engine levels. It would be more for a none girdled motor like the one im puting together. The next thing on my mind is do synthetic oils, Amsoil, Penn Grade, semi synth, resist airation better than regular oils. A polished smooth crank shaft or a rough cast squared off plow of a stocker crank. I can probable take my wifes blender and use only one beater and get an idear on what happens to the oil. Im not going to run out and buy a bunch of different brands and start whipping things up but I may try it on this penn grade stuff. I do have some regular oil for the car that stays outside the garage. I love how this forum gets the wheels turning up there in the brain cavity.

Rick the windage tray? If so it came from summit, a universal tray modified. I will try to find a link for you.

The Buick engineers had it right. even on stock type builds with out the shield the crank throws the oil at the sump and uncovers the PU. I have seen it on the dyno on girdled engines and thought it was running out of oil as it effected OP went back after installing windage tray and went back to the dyno. I have seen it Even on oil pans with front and rear shelves as it can still hit right next to the PU. There is a lot of power in oil control and the engine will be happy.
