    tubecatgs Finally a 4 speed......

I am replacing the tank on my 72 Skylark and the gas tank sending unit wire connection on the tank was bad. I couldn't find a Buick wire so I ordered one for a Chevelle that I thought was identical but has a different connection in the trunk. I cut the original wire a few inches under the trunk, cut the end off the Chevelle wire and soldered the new wire to the existing wire.

After doing this I was watching a show on Velocity and they were wiring up sensors on some car and said using solder could change the resistance
..... Not being very educated on automotive wiring and how the actual sending unit works.... could soldering mess up the reading to the fuel gauge? It's not a trophy winner so I am not bothered by the added splice and don't want to spend another $20 if I dont have to. Thanks for any advice.
