[Ok we had the boat thread], Now did anyone get their pool ready yet?

We just filled ours today. Man its allot of work getting that sucker ready.
[building a new deck for it this yr too.]

Shameful kind of though, folks in parts of the world are happy to drink from a muddy creek and we got so much we fill giant containers just to swim in crystal clear water.

Can't wait till the water gets warm enough to swim though ;)

Just turned mine on a hour ago! :beer

I spent yesterday cleaning it out and getting it ready. Last few years we have had enough rain and snow to fill it up - no water necessary! this morning I dumped 40 l of chlorine in to shock the #$%@ out of it!

a little vacumm action tomorrow, a day to stabilize and I'll let my son jump in! (after a chlorine check of course)

Mine had frogs (tadpoles) and looked like Split-Pea soup. It took us two weeks, 6000 gallons of water and about 30 gallons of chlorine, but now it sparkles. :TU:

I have just been too busy to jump in, but next week I'm going to just take the time. It has been in the upper 80's to lower 90's all last week. :Dou:

BTW: It's a huge pool, 18,000 gallons. I would have never built one so big, but it came with the house. A 1600 sq. ft. garage also came with the house so I'm not complaining. :Do No:

Ours was sort of gross as we didn't take it down, just let out the water.

Folks should add pics to make me jelous ;)

Ours is just a floater, all it was intended for. But you can float 6 with plenty of room. I swim/float more at night.

We are going to build a deck this year for it. Its gonna go on the left side in that pic, so the view of the pool is the same now. Some folks we know wit ha bigger pool had it go bad. They didn't want it anymore and said we could take their deck which is like twice as big as we needed. But a good 2/3 of the wood will be used saving a butt load. Gonna raise the fence up some and use latis so folks can't see ya even on the deck.
We don't have any fence rules or laws.

We shocked and chlorinated ours about a month ago. It's been ready for almost as long.

Our "Cement Pond" here at the Camp was originally built in the late 1920's as a 300,000-gallon constant-fill-and-overflow pool, and then rebuilt in the mid-'80s a bit smaller and with closed circulation and filtration. The main pool is 40' x 80', depth from 4' to 9', 140,000+ gallon capacity. Wading pool is 10' x 20' x 2' deep, something like 3,000 gallons.

Put 60 gallons of chlorine in and un-tarped it last weekend (the 9th). Thought we had a MAJOR leak in the plumbing (3 pumps and filters with staggered skimmers and nozzels, I got more plumbing than Carter's got little pills), but figured a faulty checkvalve was letting a well-pump siphon water back out of the pool - WHEW! Been scooping pecan tassels and running the Aqua-King daily ever since, but it's looking great. Got some pics here somewhere...

Our pool has been open for a while. Just pulled the cover off added some chemicals and vacuum. Guard dog is looking over her territory.

Mine came with the house too. I would much rather drain it, add some planking and make it a grease pit.

Nope still a bit too early here. I plan on getting it going next weekend. I hope I don't have to fight that pink algae nightmare this year.

    Anyone heat their pool?

Besides the typical bubble wrap cover??

We bought new garden hose so today I got out all the old to see how far it would reach, ran it out of the pool and over to the shed roof, then back to the pool.

Felt like it was working some but didn't get it going till the sun was almost gone. Couldn't get the attachment to screw on and stay. Ended up switching the pump hoses so that it sucks where it use to blow. Let me use the other fitting as I think the thread on the other were goofed.

Now it sucked water into the pump from up high where its warmer, which should help it warm the water even better. Sure hope so. That bubble wrap pool cover only heats the first 12inches. LIke to be able to jump in and not feel my parts disapear like a frightened turttle ;)

Been swimming for two weeks over here. Pool is about 87 on the solar heater - just about outside ambient for this time of year. We can usually swim from April through October.

I got one of the solar heaters last year. It really made a big difference. Well worth the money.
