Hello Buick fans! First car was a '69 GS400 I bought with 72,000 miles from original owner and paid $500 (good old days!). Drove it through high school and into college. Took me 30 years to finally get another GS in the garage. After 20 years of trying finally purchased my uncle's '71 GS 350. He bought it brand new in Apr'71 and drove it out to California in '73 where it was his daily driver for 30 years. 220,000+ miles on it but body and interior are great! 350 was freshened up with a mild street cam and electronic ignition but has been parked over 10 years with minimal driving. I got it in May'16. Drove it completely stock for first year... what a blast! True survivor car. Don't see many like this in Wisconsin! This summer I converted drums to Wilwood 4 piston discs, added Ridetech Stage II coilovers all around, all new steering, and fat Nittos on Budnik 18" "Pivot" wheels. It was a blast on the track at Road America last month but that 350 won't be enough for long. Next Step: LS3 (sorry guys!) and Tremec 6 speed. Go ahead and hate but we build what we like. Paint is custom by 43 years of California sun and won't be touched until absolutely last... maybe never. It's faded as hell and I love it. Excited to get to know you all!
Nice story. Build it how you want it. Just keep all the original parts because you never know what you'll want in the future.
Welcome from Michigan! Don't sell the sbb 350 short, it can make a lot of power setup with No2 or a turbo or 2! You don't want to get carried away with boost or the nitrous without opening up the top ring gap though or you may break a piston or eight?! The sbb 350 responds really well to higher cylinder pressure how ever you get it there. Or you can do the me too swap, "you swap an LS in your car"? "Me too". Here is a great example of what is possible with a sbb 350 to 370 stroker; http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/the-dyno-numbers-are-in.200499/ If you read all the way through that thread you'll see they made over 750 HP with that engine!
