The first car I restored was a 67 442. Since then Olds has been running in my blood until recently with my Buicks. Now I'm getting interested in a Rallye 350 4 speed car. What sort of pricing am I looking at? Anyone know of any for sale? Thanks Harvey PS I thought I would add a picture in case not everyone knows what I'm asking about!
You sure don't see those everyday. I saw one last summer in Lake Havasu. It wasn't in perfect shape but the guy was driving it around. My guess is that it was a local car, it didn't look good enough to be traveling in. I said "oh cool" as it drove by and my wife gave me one of those "I can't believe I know you" looks :Brow:
There was one of then about 25 miles from here that was at a construction company. The son was going to restore it one day,but unfortunately,it sat and sat till it got really rough.I haven't seen it there and noone seems to know what became of it.If I would have found an Olds first I wouldn't be here today.Guess it was a blessing, but Ido like them Olds cars especially the W30 and W31 cars. Pat
Harvy There was one at this years Olds Nationals and I think it was for sale. Ask Buicklawyer about the price as he almost bought one in the last year or so and is really up on the Olds prices
My dad had one of those when I was in high school and I had my first GS350. This is the only scan I have of it in my computer.
Rallye 350 pricing These are very cool 1 year only cars. You'll see pricing for these in the high teens to mid 20's depending on options and condition. I've seen correct cars that need restored go for 6-8k. I'd say they were in #3 condition. Personally a 4 spd Rallye 350 built to W31 specs would be cool. Matt
I wonder if the wing was an option? My dad's checked out as being real, but it didn't have the wing. I don't know if I've ever seen another one without the wing.
I did a search and came up with the following...Wouldn't hurt to call and start your search here http://www.autoworks.cc/70_olds__rallye.htm http://www.americandreamcars.com/1970oldsrallye350.htm :TU:
Thanks! :TU: I called them both yesterday. The pair of the 350's have sold and the other (autoworks) is a restoration shop showing some of the work they've done in the past. We'll keep looking though. I spotted one on CCTA in Ohio which I'll call today. Cheers Harvey
If price is no object click here. Or here. One more There were a couple project ones also from the same site. www.collectorcartraderonline.com
I believe the wing was a standard part of the 'Rallye 350' package (similar the the 1970 GSX package - all or none).
HI Brian, The one on CCTA listed for 23,500 was on ebay recently and made it to 17,800. And, yes, unfortunately price is an object, that's why I would prefer a project car. I noticed another project car on CCTA for 1,900 but it doesn't run and for shipping that would be a nightmare. I left a message for the one listed at 10,000. Thanks for looking! Cheers Harvey
Casey Marks runs a 'certified stock' (sherwood) green 1970 Olds F85 W31 to the tune of high 12s (I think 12.8s). :jd: All the Olds Rallye 350 cars were yellow (sorry, but I don't know the name of the specific color).
There seems to be a huge debate about that, its rumored that 1 or 2 of the Rallyes made in 70 were W-31 equipped cars. Nobody seems to know for sure, I remember Musclecar Review did a feature on 1 I think sometime in 99 and the writers asked the OCA about it and they in turn referred them to my friend Frank LaTorre in New Jersey. I think he said 1 was to have exisited but I don't recall. I first thought all Rallye 350s were W-31 equipped but I was sadly incorrected, maybe Dave H can shed some light on this
One of the photos above also did not have the wing either. It could be that it was mid-resto and not there though. It's been almost 20 years since dad had his, but he is one of those people who checks #'s etc... and it was supposedly all right. Then again I had people telling me that the bucket seats in my 71 GS455 weren't original because you ALWAYS got a console with a bucket car. Even with a build sheet they still didn't believe it.
