The car was for sell at Nats several years ago. I talked to the owner, but at 25K it was too rich for my blood. Turns out that the owner of the car at that time is the brother-in-law of the girl I dated in high school. Turns out that after he sold the car he bought a Gull-wing Mercedes.

I think I prefer the Plum Crazy purple car....whatever you call the color, it's still PINK. Dan

Don't care what color this thing is, it rocks. I think my dream of having a real GS 455 or stage one convertible is slowly slipping away. The market is exploding for these cars, I guess I am stuck with my tribute to one.

At least I can drive mine:laugh:

I remember that also Carl. Was for sale in PA around 99. It being a 4 speed was key for me, but the color looked different in the pics back then and I just couldn't see driving what looked like a pink GS. I like the color more in these pics... Should have looked at it in person.

    Rich,
Yeah, it looks to be a really cool car with the options, or should I say, lack of some options, it came from the factory with. This one's going to really be something when completed.

I helped Dave ID the trans and decode the buildsheet, both it and the other 3-speed car came with cast iron Muncie 3-speeds, and both are supposed to be date code and vin # correct. I know Dave's is.

Hey Duane , don't hate to tell me anything . I have but a thimbvle full of knowledge about these cars cmpared to you . I was restateing the claim of the owner when he tried to Ebay it for 150K When he ran it at BG it actuall was a little quicker than his 4 spd car he raced at BG for several years .

    John,
It really is amazing how some of the "oddballs" have been coming out lately. I don't know very much about the other one, how was it optioned?

The one I am talking about is the dark blue white / white . I do not remember the options but it was at Volo a few years ago . The guy that got it was named John a big time Trans Am dealer from Chicago . He had a light blue 4 spd convert at BG and even got married to a gal form Bowling Green and they did it at the track at the NATS a while back . Her dad bought the 3 spd car from Volo and John bought it when he sold his 4 spd car . Seems lie he alweays shows up with a wad of ready money and buys up a couple of cars at BG . In 02 he snatched a fully restored 72 4 spd Stage 1 in Strato mist blue and no vynil for 17K

I think they ment 1 of 1 in that color option, on top of the fact it's very rare.

Buicks 'official' records show one 1970 stage1 convertible 3-speed built.

Fact is, I believe two are currently documented. (DK's car referred to by Duane and JB's old car referred to by John). Unfortunately, JB never registered this car so I don't have all the specific factory options.

Duane - what color is DK's car?

    Marco,
It's green, with a radio delete panel, and if I remember correctly 14x6 painted steel wheels with dog dishes and blackwalls, plus it does have documentation.

Marco - how does one explain this disconnect? Did it just get missed in the record search?

(Searches of this type done for Pontiacs are done at Pontiac Historic Services, and it is a MANUAL search through a series of file cabinets filled with computer punch cards. It is conceivable that one particular car/card could get missed when counting in this process, especially when dealing with such low production numbers).

Sounds like a fair price for a 4-speed stage 1 thats documented and restored. The rare color is a bonus. Scott
