Very interesting. Keep in mind many of these pilots were just teenagers.
Different breed of men then for the most part. Far to many men today have no foundation to stand on.
If anyone is interested the University of Florida has a vast library of video recordings of WWII military survivors telling their stories. Ann Smith was instrumental in accomplishing this.
Look up Ann Smith Veteran interviews on YouTube also.
Went to a air museum during work and would like to share this with you guys.
I have mentioned this before, but I worked for a guy who celebrated his 19th birthday by flying a B-17 on a combat mission over Germany.
For those interested in military aviation I recommend the book "Fighter Pilot", memoirs of the legendary fighter pilot Robin Olds. Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down.
20 for father in-law as B-29 co-pilot on Tinian...was rule rather than exception, now it's the exception with many 20-somethings still children...observation, not a generational rant.
