Back getting the car running and I'm really struggling with lighting. Is there a good underhood light folks here like? Must be flexible, LED, bright, good for over, under, inside car.

I use an LED bulb in the old style drop light. Now the bulb doesn't blow out if I drop it or hit it and it does not get hot.

Milwaukee tools .com they carry a few different styles of lights, they are not the cheapest on the market, but very good quality. or try CPO Milwaukee tools,

I use the old style drop light or an aluminum shaded clamp light with a 100 watt curly Q bulb. It doesnt get hot either, but is still blinding if it rolls over in yer face. I also have a 24" plastic housed fluorescent that's useless. The best bet so far is a Harbor Fright "headlight" with LED's, especially under the dash! YMMV... ws

I have a old school drop light, but I don't have a receptacle in that area of the garage, only one across the room. Maybe I'll wire a new receptacle next to the garage door opener.

We use the cheap aluminum shaded clamp lights with a LED flood lamp bulb in them. They work great, don't get hot like incandescent and florescent bulbs do and won't break or damage bulb if dropped. Have had the same bulbs in 2 of these for well over a year now and there used regularly.

Yea, I just did some electrical in the basement just on the other side of a door/wall and I can splice into the load near the ceiling and go through to the garage and install a receptacle.

I got the eastwood like Shawn's - they go on sale every few months. Battery last about an hour on low. I also use the LED in a drop light for direct light or just a LED headlight or flashlight. Eastwood sells a gun type rechargable light that is fantastic - also goes on sale frequantly. As you get some age, ahem, more light really helps!

One neat thing with the Eastwood is you can plug it into the wall to run it, but also it comes with a cigarette lighter plug so you can power it with the car as well (if the lights battery is dead)

Cordless is handy for driveway, side of the road, pits, etc. But if I was selling corded units I'd probably say the same.;):D

Lol. I sold a pile of cordless too. Its a funny trend. once you go cordless you can't go back! Folks think a corded non led light is something from the middle ages. Be realistic for your needs and buy what works. I've sold thousands of cordless lights. They all last about 2 years. The bulbs/leds go bad or the battery does. Your grandpa's corded incandescent light that he bought in '53 still works. (FYI Incandescent bulbs are banned in shops)

Keep in mind this is a huge light that sucks a lot of power. This isn't a light that you would wander under a lift with or walk through the woods with. They are 4' long. 99% of the time corded is a better choice and much cheaper.
