I have a 67 skylark, and I intend to take apart my instrument cluster and repainting the black metal surround. On that black metal, is the Park RNDL which is about 1/4" tall and 3" wide.

I intend to sand off the existing letters, repaint the surround and then where that window shows thru to the PRNDL, I want to apply lettering that says "Ludicrous Mode"

What I think would work best is some kind of vinyl letter transfer that has a backing on both sides, that once removed, the only thing left is the letters.
Where do I find such a thing? I only need one sticker, not 100 made up.

    Ideas? IMG_0247.jpg

I used to use "rub transfer" lettering years ago. Let me go find you some.

Otherwise, I have a friend in the sign business who can do transfer in many colors and on cut vinyl ready to transfer.

    Hold on. brb...

Here are rub on dry transfer.

See if any of these will work.

If not, give me measurement and font (look up font types and give me a name).
Measure the actual top to bottom of the Upper case and tallest lower case letters, and the actual width of the window and the existing Length of the P thru L and I will mock it up and send it to my friend and let him proof it.

Hmmmm you think those dry transfer letters in white might be a good way to fix up my worn away "lights" "wash" and "wiper" ? IMG_20180912_095437.jpg

    I think they might.

You might want to clean them with a prep, apply and then use a matt clear spray.

Local auto paint jobber will have the proper prep and clear coat.

SEM products are good for this.

I would try rubbing a few letters on a test piece and then clear coat to see if they hold up, dissolve or wrinkle.
