I was up visiting the Vermeer plant for the last couple days...we left early yesterday for the airport to get some lunch on the road, and missed the storm by an hour. Very scary...I feel so bad for the people there, and the company. It's a great place and hope they can bounce back quickly. https://whotv.com/2018/07/20/vermeer-plant-suffers-brunt-of-tornado-damage-in-pella/

The midwest is the breadbasket of America, the heartland, etc, but with it's weather (read tornados) I just couldn't live there. I saw my first tornado In Osage City, Kansas after I landed in their local airport to get out of very rapidly deteriorating weather. One of my better flight decisions.
Tons of different stuff...trenchers, vibratory plows, directional drills, chippers, stump grinders, hay bailers, etc...
Nasty storms for sure. But compared to hurricanes, earthquakes, mass floods they are usually very localized.
I seen this news on Facebook as I know a couple of people not to far from there. Where I live got some heavy winds from that storm but that was about it. Not a fan of tornados but only seen 1 in my life about 1 mile south of the parents house up the road
Since the 72 Electra I bought (back in 2015) a couple of miles north of Pella I couldn't resist to visit this town with quite some Dutch influences (like the name Vermeer).
