ok, sorry, semi dark pic and it blurred cos of a longer exposure, but you can see the parts I stole from my other car. I got the green one without a decklid and rear bumper (however did that happen Paul?), but this works well.

Today I got it all running (no exhaust on yet) and leakfree. The d/s upper control arm is missing a bushing on it's mount, so tomorrow I get to swap that from the brown car, put on the d/s fender, hood, and bumper, then (or maybe before) bleed the brakes / fix them cos they're messed up. Then I gotta transfer my stereo, which is gonna take a good day or so.

So the question is...headers or no headers...? :Do No:
This is going to be a daily driver (yeah, I know, crazy) so is it wise to have headers on a driver?

This is what the car looked like when I left tonight:

    Romy,

Looks good. Headers on a driver? Why not? Also, I really can't get that quarter shipped. I have no life right now. LMK if you can wait for my Chicago guy to make the trip.

    Dan,
I can wait and just do all the other body work for now, and do that quarter when I get back from Europe. I leave the 21st of this month come back on the 19th of August, so pretty much all summer I'll be gone, but if your friend would come any time in between, there'd be someone he could drop it with (like my mom...she'd love that  .)

So I think I'm convinced about the headers...now the question is: Jet hot coated, or just straight as they come from Poston?

Actually, headers that fit a rear steer may prove to be a task. Have you researched this?

I talked to the people at Poston who assured me that yes, they'll fit a 70 LeSabre with a 350, that others have done it. So hopefully it'll work. If not, I guess I'll just hold on to them til I get a Skylark.

Anyhow, the car's together and I drove it home tonight. The hood isn't quite aligned, nor the drivers fender cos it's rusted away on the bottom, but it works. I also gotta fix the exhaust cos a hanger is missing at the very end and I have it ghetto tied. I still need to check the fluid in the rear dif, and the power steering needs to be filled up a bit more, but all in all, it's about together.

Tomorrow I'm going to finish up cannabalizing the brown one. I didn't get any pics of the whole car yet, but you can basically see everything's on it. That's my friend since I was a wee one standing there...he's not much a car person, but he's helping a lot. :TU:

(sorry that the pic blurred...it was taken right as the sun was about gone)

Wow, you're fast! You're making some serious progress.

I've been researching headers for my 70 LeSabre and I haven't found any that fit my application! Are you sure that you can get them? Maybe it's because you have a 350. Does anyone make headers for a 70 LeSabere with a 455?

BTW - You really should have a GREEN deck lid that would match your car.   I have one on my car...

Well, today I cleaned, got some parts, jacked around a bit, cleaned more, fixed a few issues with the engine, and cleaned. It's unbelievable how dirty a car can get. Whoever had this car before must've been a smoker or something cos damn, it was crazy in there. There was a really nasty film on the windows that took a good hour or so to get off. And the seats were quite a task to clean up too. I also cleaned up the vinyl roof for the heck of it...may as well look kinda decent while it's multicolored.

Now the bad news that's going to slow me up:

Drivers side rear wheel cylinder leaks like a siv

Still need an exhaust hanger for one side

Gas leak from the tank area (I think it's the rubber supply hoses, cos it only does it when the car is on)

    Shocks are shot

Anyhow, tomorrow's another day; one where I pick up my air compressor finally, drop the gas tank, and get crazy with the cutting wheel.

    Paul,
I really dig the brown color...at first I didn't think it was too nice, but it's really grown on me, and the green is just nasty (especially faded with no shine.) Did you ever get a chance to get those pics?

Or for that matter, can anybody with a 69-70 LeSabre/Cat out there take a few pics of what the quarter panels look like in front of the rear wheel? It's shot on both sides of this car, and when I weld on my patch panels, I want it to be semi close to what it's supposed to look like.

My apologies - I keep forgetting to snap some pics for you. I just wrote myself a note. I'll get them tomorrow and send you a PM.

It's true - if you don't write it down, it doesn't happen...

    Paul,
I know what you mean...sometimes what your write down gets a bit overwhelming though...like the list for this car; it just keeps growing.

I have headers on my other LeSabre (it has a 455) but I couldn't tell you what brand they are. However, the two bracing bars that run from where the engine mounts to the frame had to be cut out in order for them to fit. I've yet to make up and weld new braces, but I don't think it's that big of a deal since I'm not driving that car at the moment.

    Romy:

No kidding - I haven't found ANYONE who has headers installed on a 70 LeSabre with a 455. Any possibility you could snap some pics of the headers and the cuts you made on the braces in the car? I really want to put headers on this car!

When you installed them did you need to take the engine out to get them in?

    Paul,
I'll take a few pics today or tomorrow of it all and post them. The only pics I have right now don't really show it too well.

So in the past few days I've done nothing but maintance and general boring stuff to the car...and gone to various auto parts stores about 20 times. One has this part but not that part, the other has that part but not this part. :af: It gets annoying. Anyhow, not doing much with it over the weekend because I have drill (Army stuff again), but on monday I'll drop the gas tank and begin the trunk floor. Plus, the tank might have a leak (or the pickup, I'm not sure) so I have to fix that too. Good news: the gas gauge actually works!!!!

Anhow, here's what it looks like at the moment...

---- Paul - I'll get the pics of the headers sometime this weekend, or maybe even later today.

My camera sucks a lot, and had some issues recently, so there's a big gap in pictures from this all, but here's a few of the trunk and what it looks like now.

Well, that's about it for now...I leave for the Czech Republic tomorrow, and won't be back til mid August when I'll start up on this again. For the time being it's just going to sit in the driveway under a cover. Too much to do and not enough time in the day :Do No: Oh well.

Good luck. PM me a phone number of someone who can get the stuff I have to you if my Chicago connection transports while you are away.

Also, I think alot of my plans are gonna change and I need some funds. LMK if you are interested in a drivers side NOS 1970 Wildcat/LeSabre quarter panel. $250. Dunno if my Chicago bud can haul that since its a nearly an eight foot panel. Maybe if interested one of your buds could meet me in OH or something.
