Pics of 18's on a 1971 Vert with stock suspension?

My car has been sitting for a few years in the garage & I am finally getting around to getting it back on the road this year. I'm thinking I'll need to replace my BFG's due to sitting even though they surprisingly don't have any dry rot but they are probably 15 years old at this point?

My plans are to eventually add at least front disc's if not all four wheels, possible dropped spindles with the brake kit, lowered springs & shocks then possibly tubular control arms. This won't be a protour car but a nice cruiser that stops & handles a little better than before. So I'm thinking of buying the wheels & tires now that will fit with stock suspension but also handle the future upgrades, no sense in buying new 15" rubber now to upgrade later. So I'm looking for thoughts & pics of anyone who's done or doing something similar, especially any drop tops with 18's. Pic of the last day I drove her before putting her up for storage. Thanks!

So I think I found wheels, 18x8.5 with 245/45R18 on the front & 18x9.5 with 275/40R18 in the rear. Does anyone run a similar set up on a 70-72?

IMHO...Don't do it! And remove that tachometer and I suppose next will come a rear spoiler!
It's a beautiful car as it sits almost!
    Again...just my opinion.
I'm an old guy 67years old so don't mind me.
It's still a partially free country so...do what ever floats your boat!

Thank you for the kind words but she’s a 30 footer at best, still I do love the way she sits with the 15’s. It’s a tough choice, I think these cars look so good with the stock or aftermarket wheels, I guess there are worse problems to have!

OZGS455 Oh what a wonderful day!

My 71 had 20x10 20x8 when I saw it for sale, I got the owner to put the 15s back on it and put the 20s in the trunk and back seat for my 600 mile drive home.
I sold the 'hot wheels' for 2K not long after.
Got my rears widened to 10" and fitted new rubber.
Vitour Galaxy, great wide rubber at a good price and the speedo is still spot on with 295/50/15 and 245/60/15
Can't beat old school wheels on a muscle car.IMHO.
    Each to their own though.
Yours is a beautiful car, nice colour.

Custom wheels would look great on there! Stand out in a sea of sameness. Easy to bolt stock wheels back on when needed.
It does look good the way it is too.

Nelson they are from Cirlce Racing and as I understand it, once they complete moving their facilities to Texas, they will again be in production. I used Mitch R repro 70 caps

    Scott,
thanks they look great.... I am thinking about putting a set on my GSX. I like the 8" on the front but I might go with 9" or 10" on the rear so not to get too much sticking out past the qtr lip... I would like to see some pictures when you get it on the ground.
