Pictures are of the ps gear box from my '72 GS. The option code is N40 from the build sheet. I assume I have a quick turn ratio gear box.
    Correct? Comments?

Hey Gerry... I'm no expert. I just bought a quick ratio from Hector, and it had the "6" stamp that you show in your 2nd picture.

Why not turn the steering shaft and count how many turns lock to lock?

I removed the steering box and using a small pair of vice grips on the steering shaft, turn to turn, was about 3 1/3 just like in the shop manual (3,30).

Sounds like the stock variable ratio box for the car. The ratio is about 16:1 at the center reducing to 13:1 at the ends of steering travel left and right. The fast ratio boxes are 12:1 constant I believe and are more like 2.75 turns lock to lock. Years ago, I bought a box from Year One. It was marketed as a fast ratio. It is 2.75 turns lock to lock in my 70 GS.
