Hi All, for years I have been poping plastic parts for myself and friends as needed with great success. I am now seeing if anyone on here has a part that they need repoped that is not available through any other distributor. The material I am using is as hard as PVC, but flexible enough to have some bend and is not affected by heat or cold. It is not injection, but you would never know it, and no, its not fiberglass resin. Anyhow, let me know if you have a "to die for" part that you'd be interested in having re-done... not just Buicks either. Here is a part I just finished for a buddy. It is a seat corner cover for a 73 Riv bucket car. Mine is on the right. This is not full time for me, so I hesitate to open this flood gate, but lets see what happens?

    Later,
    Jon

May be bigger than you would want to tackle, but we need a 68 GS grill. I don't have much hope for TPP doing it anymore.

I could tackle the grille, but the last time I started tackling the 71 GS grille, the parts place swooped in and took all the business. I was out like $500 in the mold itself. Id like to stay small for now, but if TPP was absolutely not making it, I would consider if there was demand.

Can the material you use be vacuum plated? If so, maybe you could re-pop the '70-'72 radio face plates and/or the instrument clusters.

If the material can stand up to heat, maybe you could do the early '70 plastic radiator covers.

interesting, I had never thought of the radiator covers..... The stuff can be vacuume plated, and yes, I had thought about re-making the radio plates, but incorporating the delete plate into them, already cut out for an after market radio. I made that on my 71 and it looks slick!

Ah yes, I recall the loooong 71 grille thread. I've asked TPP about a 68 grille in the past several months, and they gave me NO reason to think it will get done. Not enough demand, I believe was the reply. Dunno, maybe they're right. :Do No:

Hi, I'm wanting to split my bumper on my 71 riviera, and usually people will use two bumpers, and cut pieces off of those and weld them on the origional bumper they split, to cover the hollow hole.

My question is can you make a plastic chrome end piece that i could just fit into the hollow hole made from when I cut the bumper. If needed i could send a piece of my bumper once it's been cut so you can get an accurate measure.

Here are some pics of what i mean.

    Stock bumper.

Yeah, I learned a lot from that mold... that was the beginning of this hobby I have since formed. I still have people asking if I am going to finish it. I laugh....

As for the Riv bumper, I need an exact soemthing to replicate, meaning I cant just create something from scratch.. well, I could, but it would take awhile, and probably not cost effective.

I am mainly looking for people who need a part that is not manufctured and hard as hell to find. I will be re-popping the T-Type GN Tri-Shield center caps this weekend. I'll post a pic when done. They will be stronger than the originals. I am modifying the tabs to make them thicker.

If it's something you think you can do, I'd be glad to cut my bumper and send it to you, and you could use that as an exact mold. But only if you'd feel up to it. I think a chromed plastic end piece would look nice, and be about $600 cheaper than buying two bumpers, cutting them, welding, and re-chroming

How about the notchback bench seat plastic bits in the middle where the armrest folds down? Several small pieces there, I know a few people looking for them (nobody make anything of the sort for any a-bodies I know of).

The instrument cluster bezel and radio bezel would be excellent (as already mentioned) if a guy could plate it properly, getting very hard to find in nice shape. I would think though the instrument cluster bezelw ould be very complicated and hard to produce.

I see what you mean now, pic didn't come through at first. I have no doubt I could do it, but it is still very custom work, becasue I am not replicating the bumper, I am trying to make a piece that slips into the hole..... This process is all about making a negative image that you can replicate. If you were local, I'd say come on over, but this isn't duplication of a part, it custom creation, and my image of what looks good might differ from yours. I think I will have to pass on it.

    Thanks,
    Jon

What do you guys think of this? I made a delete plate and mounted an after market radio in it. I would cast as one piece so no glueing etc. Once again, have to find a plastic plater... but I would think this would sell.

I dont know why you keep insisting that I took your emblem or even promised to re-make it? I never even spoke to you about doing that? I dont have it, and never have had it. My soul is worth way more to me than the value of a plastic GSX emblem. I am sure you have me confused with someone else. Sorry you got screwed, but it was not me.

BigNasty, so let me get this straight, your accusing me of stealing from you, and you post 2 threads both of which have no reference whatsoever to your emblem, nor do you even post anything about the emblem in them? You have no email from me, you have no shipping label/receipt... You have no commitment from me stating I would pop this emblem. You have absolutely nothing to back up your story. I have had no complaints about me ever on this board, or anywhere else. I am a moral upstanding Christian who makes a considerable amount of money, so why on earth would I steal from you? Yes, I am friends with George N, and yes, I used to live in FL, and yes, I attempted the repo of the 71 GS grille, does that make me guilty? Of course you will say yes, because you need someone to blame. You have nothing except your misguided accusations of me and my alleged scheme to steal this emblem and then change states so you'd never find me.... Seems so worth it dont ya think? I have no idea who you lent the emblem to, and obviously neither do you. Call me a liar, call me what you will... Dont recommend me to anyone else.... it really matters none to me. I dont expect this thread to change your mind, or you to suddenly realize "Ooops, maybe it wasn't him I lent the emblem to." Youre convinced it was me, and there is most likely nothing I can do to change your mind. So call me names and be mad, there is nothing I can do to change your mind. Think about this though.... You have never seen a reproduction of the GSX emblem on eBay, I dont own a GSX, and you can check my eBay name "monziac" to verify that I have never sold such a thing. At the time, I was casting stuff in fiberglass resin, which you cannot tint to Red and Blue, you can only paint it. So if I took this from you, the most I would have ever gained out of this was like a hundred bucks or so??? I dont even know what its worth? Sure sounds like a lot of trouble and time for $100..... I do this as a hobby not as a job. So, let the board make the decision. If you all want me to go away and not attempt any of this, then just say the word. I wont bother. You can all just keep scrounging for broken and damaged plastic stuff, or wait for someone else to repop it. I finally found a suitable casting agent after years of being dissapointed with fiberglass resin, and I thought I would come here and offer a service. I will not respond to any more of this nonsense. I have a clear conscience.

Interesting reading Matt, thank you for taking the time to look for that. Wish someone else had done such research before throwing around such accusation......

Jon, Let start by saying I owe you an official apology. I was trying to locate the thread and got the wrong "71" person. For some reason,my subscriptions went back way earlier in the year and I made a stupid judgement error. I falsely accused you of being the guy who was involved. For this I apologize. I guess I should have pm'd you and asked before flying off the handle." I's been awhile for this emblem deal and I was really hoping to have one for my racecar. Please accept my apologies as I will also retract my earlier claims and if you'd like I will eliminate the posts from your thread. I aplologize for my terrible character I displayed to you as well as to the people on this board. Guess it has some to do with cabin fever. I(as well as everyone on here) appreciate all that people like you do to make good products for our cars. I made a mistake and sincerely offer my deepest regrets and apology to you.
I must go now and eat some crow .
