Pat, I appreciate the appology, and accept it. I too wish this had not been a public "cat fight", but for years I have had to listen to you blame me for this emblem theft, and I finally heard enough. I hope you do get some resolution on this, as it sucks to put your trust in someone and get taken advantage of. I am almost afraid to offer to re-produce it for you.... :puzzled:

Anyhow, have a good weekend, and thanks for the crow. :Dou:

Well like i said, i wouldn't mind shipping you the bumper already cut, and let you work your magic. But if you don't think it will look very good, then I will respect your opinion. I just really want my bumper split, but I don't have the money to buy 2 bumpers, pay for welding, sanding, and rechroming.

If you change your mind and get some free time and may want to give it a shot, let me know.

    Thanks a bunch

Headlight switch retainer bezel for a 70-72 car. Plastic with chrome plating.
A fine machine (3/8 X ?? )thread inside the dash to secure the switch frame.
I've broken a few & they are hard to find.
    Also the lighter bezel.
I can send these as samples & I'll buy the first two of each.

    Jon,
I totally understand your reasoning. I have ALWAYS been a good upstanding member of the Buick community.I like to think I am truthful as well as honest too. Several people on here have gotten rare, difficult items from me for way less that anywhere else. I jumped the gun and didn't have all the facts straight. Again,I apologize. I also removed the other posts as it served absolutely no one any purpose. I just hope we can put this misunderstanding behind us. I will be adressing the other Jon,with a 71 in his screen name, in a private Pm. I only want my part back as it's for my racecar. Things like this make you mad,but it's part of trusting people. I would not hesitate to send you items as I can tell you seem like a honest decent person. I highly doubt that as You are making needed things for street cars and I have a racecar which these items are most likely not in my car anymore. If I see you wanting to reproduce something and I have a good example of it,I would have no problem helping everyone out and sending it to you.

Would that piece be already cut for a aftermarket radio? If so, I would buy one right when you have it done. I don't even need it plated since I would be painting it black anyways. Let me know!!

Interesting... "Jefferson Bryant", of Stillwater OK is the author of that recently released book on building performance Buick engines. http://www.themotorbookstore.com/9781932494594.html

    "Hello All,
Thank you for supporting my book. I worked very hard to provide an informative book that will serve many as a guide to building high-performance Buick engines. This book was written with the help of some of the best Buick builders around- Mike Tomazewski & TA Performance, Poston Buick, Jim Burek, Jack Merkel, Automotive Machine & Performance, Russell Martin, Champion Racing Heads, the list goes on.

Since I am not all that active on the forums, there are quite a few of you who may not recognize me. I am an automotive journalist, I write for 15 different magazines including Hot Rod, Car Craft, MuscleCar Enthusiast, SuperRod, Rod and Custom and many more. I have been been an avid Buick enthusiast for over 8 years. Ten years ago, I built a 69 Opel GT with a 231 Buick V6. In 1999, I bought a 71 GS350 convertible. We tore it down 3 years ago and it is almost finshed. It has been featured in over 50 tech articles in Car Craft, MuscleCar Enthusiast, Hot Rod and several others. I have been a champion of the Buick 350, as I am always a fan of underdogs. We built a 400hp 350 for the '71, which is featured in the book.

While I did not write the "only Buick performance book" line, this is the first book of its kind. This book covers the 4 most popular Buick engines-Nailheads, Big blocks, 350s, and turbo V6s. There have been other books, such as the Dove book. The Dove book, while providing some good info, mainly focused on the big blocks. There was a little mention of the 350, but only in passing. The Dove book also included a reprint of the GM Buick V6 rebuild manual, but that is hardly performance information and both sections are out of date. The new Max-performance book provides the most up to date information and techniques for building hi-po Buick engines.

I hope you all enjoy the book and look forward to hearing your responses.
    Thank you,
    Jefferson Bryant

Jefferson B has also been active on the BPC email list, though I haven't read it much lately. Pat, hopefully you can get some response from him and get this issue addressed.

Hi guys, this is good stuff. So far it looks like I will be making the GN center caps for the T-Type wheels since I need those anyhow for my wagon. After that, I will be making the wingnuts and the radio bezels that are already cut out for the after market radio. I am not convinced that there is a demand for the actual radio bezels cause I see them on ebay and they only go for like $15. You have to remember, this material I use aint cheap, so I at least have to be able to recoupe my cost on whatever I make.

I was thinking on the wing nut to take the early GS door emblem and cast it onto a nut to go on top of the air cleaner. I think it would look pretty slick! Keep the ideas coming. I am going to get with George N sometime this week to find a contact he has that does the chrome plating/painting. These would have to be done in lots, and most likely paid for in advance.

The big parts like the radiator top would have to show demand, because that mold will be expensive. I will do it if there are enough people who want it. Also, I will look into the 68-69 Grill also, but once again, very expensive to me, and I take all the risk in making the mold. When I did the 71 GS Mold, I got stuck holding $500 woth of mold when the parts place came out with theirs. That wasn't fun....

I will keep all these ideas in mind, and if I see the demand for something I have not yet produced, you can expect it to follow.

    Thanks,
    Jon

Jon, that would be 68 GS only, the 69 is different, and is already available in reproduction.

How hard is the plastic you're molding? The reason I ask is that there seems to be no one repopping the "male" latch parts for '69 console lids. I know that that part fits on other, older Buick console lids as well (Wildcat, I think, and maybe Riviera, so there'd be a market apart from just the Skylark/GS people). The original part was metal, but if the plastic is strong enough, it could be done. It's a nice small part, too.

Let me know if you think it's feasible. If you'd need one to replicate, I have one sitting around (my only one, after looking high and low for it for quite a while, a board member did a junkyard walkthrough and found it for me - thanks!).

    Re: '68 Grille

I don't think that's the case these days. I've asked them twice in the past year or so, and really got negative responses both times. I know the 69 grille didn't sell like hot cakes rightaway, but then a 2nd production run happened... :Do No:

The plastic is very hard, like PVC and has all the same similar qualities. I dont know if it would take repeated abuse, but I was able to take a hammer to it and it did not break. It was about the same thickness. The piece looks very simple to make. It almost looks like a candidate for Mike G, as I think he works in metal doesn't he? Worse case scenario, we can try it. Let me get through a couple other pieces here first, as I dont want to get overwhelmed here. But its something I could produce in a day or so.... How thick is the latch part?

Ah ha! That's the one. First problem in a business solved, i.e. need for a part identified. The thickness of the latch part is maybe that of a nickel.

As I said, if it's the case that you need one to model from, let me know. I think that one of the problems is that when they were made, there's only one mounting screw into the lid, so if the latch was tight and/or as the mounting screw hole got older and weakened, a lot of them broke off and were lost or tossed. Thus, the need for the replacements. There's also a guy on here who repops the lids themselves, does an excellent job, but does not offer the "male" latch piece itself.

Wow. How much of jerk do I look like? Let me first say that this was completely my fault, but was in no way intentional. I moved from my house and shop to a new house and had to pack a lot away in the barn. Ironically, I found the original emblem last week in a box in the back of my barn while I was looking for my original emblems for my GS. I have it packed up to ship back to Big Nasty. Everybody else that ordered an emblem got theirs, this was a really unfortunate incident that I am to blame for, the original and repops got lost in the move and I forgot about. I have PM'd and Emailed BigNasty so I can make it up to him, I hope he isn't to sore with me, though I will understand if he is. I have to say I am glad I came across this thread, I had forgotten BigNasty's handle, so I can at least contact him here. I am truly sorry about this.

    Jon,
I also would be interested in that radio delete plate. I am presently looking to change the "old" after market radio in my car and the "new" after market radios do not fit the standard bezels anymore. Like the previous reply, I do not need mine plated either. When might you be making these?

I will be making the radio delete plates really soon. GN Center caps first, then the delete plate radio plates pre-cut for after market radios. I need to clean up the original so it doesn't have all the marks from my dremel when I made it the first time. :)

    Jon,
I'm very interested. Any idea how much they will go for, without plastic plating? Are you using a generic dimension for the radio cut out?
