Yesterday I got called into the Human Resources office at the end of my work day. I was told I was being laid off with a very small chance of being called back any time soon. Just remember me in prayer as I hit the street with my resume. Remember my family as well. I have three kids who are having a hard time understanding why I'm not going to work anymore. And remember my wife who only has 8 months of nursing school left. This quarter is paid for and I'm praying I am able to get a job quickly so we have the funds to keep her in school for the next quarter. MARK
Mark, I feel for you. I got "released" a couple years ago after 24 years with the same company. A bunch of my buddies kept telling me not to worry, but it was hard with two kids with one in college no to lose sleep. I had a bit better situation because my wife was working part time. I chased down all the personal relationship leads I could, and that is where I landed something to hold me until I found what I was looking for. Lean on your friends, if they are really friends they won't mind. And it is like doubling, tripling, quadrupling your efforts. What sort of work are you looking for? Good luck.
Hang in there, buddy - Remember - you are a child of the King. He said He would prosper whatever you put your hands to; you have favor with God and with man. Never have I seen His kids forsaken or His children begging bread... I pray that this will be a step up for you and, in the end, you'll look back and go "wow, did that ever turn out for the best!". K
Thanks. I have already had a lot of friends contacting me. Even the HR person contacted me today to give me some leads. I'm one of those computer hardware and software troubleshooters. I know if I need work quick I could probably do some contract work around town. MARK
Thanks Keith. I ended up in this job because my previous job shut the door on me. I felt so blessed. I pray I'm in the same situation now.
Mark, I'm sorry to hear that, bro. I pray that God opens doors up for you and your family! God bless!
Nerd! I do the same too  Become friends with a lot of different agency's and give them your resume. I did that for a long time before i ended up where i am at now. If you do good work for them they "will" keep calling you for more jobs. HOpe everything works out!! Meanwhile, go play with the car p
My Prayers out to you, The last time I was let go turned out real well for me, I got a much better job with better benefits I wish better for you too. Jim
Mark ? Did you just have an epiphany ? If you have the contacts and the skills why not try starting some sort of a Computer Consulting Co. ? You've said you can contract around town .Maybe this is what God has in store for you . Sell yourself and your skills ! Steve
Mark, it has been my experince, a few times, that I always seem to get fired for a better job. I am hoping the same will turn out in your case. Also, think about what Steve has mentioned. Maybe be your own boss? I can't think of a better person to work for, can you?
...Yardley did it and hasn't looked back since. Got fired from a god IT job, found a "get me by" job but didn't like the IT dept. he was working for so he went out on his own and things have grown steadly since....
I talked about this with my wife. I think we might try it after she graduates. But for now I need to bring in a check soon.
