POA Valve

Just found out I need a new POA valve for the a/c system. (always wondered where that moaning sound came from, thought the old car was just in pain)

Now which is better, the OEM style or the newer one's with the electrical connection that cuts out the ac compressor from time to time?

My system is 134A and other than that is basically stock. The price delta is $85 for basic OEM style to $149 for the electrical one.

It's hot down here and ac is needed from April to November because my (sweet) wife won't ride unless the ac is on.

Also, where's the best place to buy from?

    Thanks.

Our A6 compressors (specifically the clutch) was not designed to cycle, like the newer CCOT clutch-cycling system you are referring to.

Stick with the OEM POA. Get it calibrated for 134, Classic auto air, Old Air prod in Tampa or Benny Sanchez at Factory Auto Air can do this.

To really optimize with 134, a parallel-flow condensor works much better than our OEM one

Scott, thanks for putting me on to OLD AIR Products.

I spoke at length to one of their service techs about the possible problems with a cycling switch and he said that there is an adjustment screw between the terminals on the switch that is used to adjust the switch to eliminate the problem. He also said that the A6 compressor clutch was the toughest thing going and cycling wouldn't hurt it.

Me. I don't know and I'm paying someone to install this thing so hopefully he's wise to the procedure.

But if we ever meet up, I owe you a beer or two, as I was all set to buy the valve from OPGI @ $140.00 and the OLD AIR price was only $95.00!

    Thanks

The majority of guys that go with the cycling switch end up regretting it and would rather go back to a poa valve. Their main issue is the constant cycling. A poa valve doesn't have this issue. I get cycling switches installed on ac from time to time on ac units that I purchase. Usually just throw them away. I always include a rebuilt poa valve with the ac units that I sell.

Do you sell these POA valves? I've got the cycling valve from Old Air and have never been happy with it. I have a jumper wire plugged into the harness to bypass it. I can't remember what I did with the old POA valve, probably threw it away years ago. I can come up with a core if possible, just need to know what years are the same. I don't use the a/c so much since we moved back up north but it would still be nice to have working properly on those days we do have that resemble the Florida weather we left behind.

I can restore yours for $125. That includes shipping back to you. Outright, they are $175 with shipping included. I have all three types. Turn around is about a week.
