Phils combo is right on the money a GOOD 10-1 shortblock with Good ported heads and a good cam matched to the heads. should get you in the 11s every time. But everything has to work together. Its much harder than it sounds.

Not to hijack the thread but what rocker arm/pushrod combo are you using?

Best time to date is 11.67 @ 115.49 MPH. Car weighed 4010 with me (170 lbs), 1/2 tank of gas, and empty trunk. Just this past September, I made 6 passes at Cecil County Dragway with a calculated altitude of 1800 ft. All 6 passes were 11 second passes. Best 60' was 1.63. There is a lot more in this combo. I need to shift it higher, and possibly go with a good 9.5 or 10" fixed pitch converter. I can drive this car ANYWHERE. It runs cool, idles in gear at 750-800 RPM, runs the power brakes, and it has gotten 14 MPG on the open road at 70 MPH with a Q-jet.
