Hey guys... The trusty Delco 10-si series alternator on my '72 Skylark 350 (with A/C) has seen better days, so I'm considering a Powermaster 12-si style 100-amp replacement alternator. Have any of you had any bad experiences with the Powermaster product (either their 100 or 150-amp models)? Background: The 10-si alternator in my car produced a true (i.e., verified by testing) 85-amps a few years ago, but it's now getting a little noisy. Plus, since I'm installing a warmed over 482" BBB that I hope to equip with a Holley Sniper self-learning FI, I just might need to install an electric auxiliary cooling fan to help the stock cooling system now and then. The M&H reproduction wire harness that I installed way back in the 90's when I built up the 350 included an "external to internal regulator conversion" and a couple other minor mods, which continues to work very well. I will, however, install a new M&H wire harness for the new BBB. So, your experiences with a Powermaster 12-si style alternator??? Thank you in advance for your help.
Thanks for your response, 2001ws6. What electrical components are installed that you feel you need 150-amps? Was it necessary to run a larger gauge charging wire?
Im running this fan set up. The only change I did with the wiring is a M&H harness. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/flx-295
I'm using this one 10 years now on my car no issue. Runs my 2 fans, and everything I need on my racecar. Holds 14 volts all the time https://www.dbelectrical.com/products/high-output-chevy-one-1-wire-alternator-105-amp-10si-se.html They have a bigger one https://www.dbelectrical.com/produc...alternator-140-amp-65-85-adr0335-140-amp.html
