Trying to assist a friend in need of a 400 engine for his 69 400 pervertible. Starting to get deep into it though (nothing new to us Die Hard Buick fans!). I suggested a 430 or 455 also, I am assuming that’s a straight over swap,please correct me if I am wrong on that. Thanks gents.
Its a strait swap.Just tell him to put a 455,cover the rockers with 69 covers and voila,its a 400.Bruno.
I have an RR code 400 in Illinois 62301. I picked it up for a project that hasn't taken off. It was rebuilt when I purchased it. Basic stock rebuild with a Comp 268 cam. Rotating assembly is balanced.Needs gaskets because I opened it up to check things out. It will also need carb, water pump,fuel pump and distributor. It has exhaust manifolds. $1300 obo buyer pays shipping.
Fritz, I have a 69 430, was running when I pulled it out, 15 years ago. I'm in Tampa Fl. perhaps it is closer to you. $400 complete but no carb or accessories.
