Imagine this coupled with EFI, a turbo and a NOS set up:cool:. No more messing with springs, bushings timing lights etc. Drive to the track punch in your "race formula" set up, woop some azz, punch in street mode recipe and drive home:). My favorite feature is you can lock it out so the car wont start, nice anti-theft feature I'd say!

Pretty neat. No need to Power Time your engine. Do it all with a smart phone.

Hopefully they will actually make one for Buick......out of stock.....

    Be great for INDEX racing.

Would it be legal to run in "No Box" class?

I dont see why not......its not a delay box, you cant change timing while running down track........msd grid is legal in no box class......you just can use the recording side while racing, or slow rate controls, ......but in tt you can......you can program timing maps into it, I dont see any different

I used a MSD timing control...old school one just a knob. Was great for warming car up...just move it as needed.
Also nice for driving race car to the track on pump gas. Get to track put race gas in and turn it up.
Ended up removing it trying to trace down a high speed miss and never put it back on.

My only fear with Progression unit is if it goes wacko and blows motor from too much timing or just plain fails.....SOL.

A bit worried about how much heat that circuit board can take. Distributors get pretty hot.

It would be nice if they made a conversion kit for the distributors we have already. Especially since they are out of stock....

This thing is sweet! If they make one for a 455 then can't you just swap a 350 gear on it to use it for a SBB? If I'm remembering correctly that's all it takes to change between big and small blocks right?

Yes, assuming the shaft diameter is the same on this new distributor.

Awesome! Since I'm planning to go Holley EFI I was going to use one of their dual sync distributors that links up to the Holley ECU, but this is a good alternative, especially for carbureted folks!

I have installed a Progression Ignition on my 430 a month back. I purchased one with the small cap to look more stock. Connects to manifold vacuum. Note: The shaft is longer than an original points unit. From the timing cover to cap mounting base is 5" (total height to top of cap is 8"). May still fit below ram air snorkel.
It needs a low resistance coil, under .7 ohms. I used a Pertronixs Flame Thrower II coil with .6 ohms. The mobile app allows you to send timing adjustments to the distributor to see how the car responds. The distributor saves one timing file. Additional timing files can be saved to your mobile phone. I have the same concerns regarding reliability as BQUICK. I may decide to have a mechanical unit as back up.

Well there we go, a test pilot for the progression distributor on our buicks. Atleast we'll get real life feed back on the until that's made for our engines rather than trusting what the chevy and mopar guys are saying about them.

My take on the vid is adjustability without having to change springs and bushings..... convenience
I'll stick with my MSD with mechanical advance

I just ordered the hei version for my new 455 and will update how it runs but after checking them out it looks like a quality piece.
