A few people have been asking about my GSX drag car project, so I thought that I'd post a few recent pics.
Hope like hell to have this thing down the track in spring!

    Back halved with 14x32's
    Full cage
    523 AM&P motivation
Glass fenders, hood, deck lid, doors & bumpers

My goal is to run consistent mid 9's. The potential will be there to go a little quicker, but I need to keep this thing ALIVE, so I will use a throttle stop if needed.

    Thanks,

    I love it.
Keep the post coming. What is the predicted weight going to be?

    Thanks!!

My goal is to be under 3000lbs without driver. It should be pretty close. I'm trying to curb the weight were I can, but I'm not going overboard with it.

    Sub 3,000lbs that is great.
Man I wish you lived near here so I could watch and learn. Keep it going.

It appears you stretched the rear wheel wells forward. How much did you take out for that size tire?

Just over 2". The wheels and tires would fit without doing this, but they must be located inboard a few inches to clear. I didn't want that look. I wanted the wheel and tire to be close to the same outside width as a stock setup with wide tires. I felt bad cutting up rust free quarter panels, but I've been living by the saying that "anyone can restore a car, it take a real man to cut one up!"
At least I know that I won't have a patched up rust bucket for a race car. LOL

Makes sense, it looks good too :TU: Read a thing a while back about a guy with a great looking Pro Street 57 Chevy. At shows, some guys would always give him crap about doing that to an original car. He'd ask them, "What if I told you it was a rust bucket headed for the crusher and I saved it?" They'd usually go "Oh well that's OK then!" Then he say, "It wasn't, it was a cherry stock ride and I took a torch to it." :bla: They'd walk away grumbling :)

    Thanks Craig.
It bothered me for a while, to cut up such a nice shell, but I'm over it for the most part. I'll be completly over it when this thing is fininshed and headed down the track!!! :3gears:

Obviously a lot of really good work. I can already tell it will be a nice looking car. What color are you planning?

    Thanks everyone!!

It's going to be a GSX clone, so it will sport the 10-10 (original paint color) Apollo White with the usual GSX stripes, (with a few little extra touches of course!) It will be similar to Guy's GSX, (nice car by the way!!), only with bigger tires! :)

I took some more current pics this weekend and I'll post them in a day or two.

    Thanks again!!

    Thanks Mike!

    Yes...... ME, MYSELF & I!!!

Seriously, I really busted on it for a while in preparation for the AM&P power generator! Now AM&P is running behind and so am I. I'm busy doing TA Oil pans, valve covers, etc. I hope to get back to it soon! I still want to have it ready for a shakedown run in spring. If I end up selling my house next spring or summer, my racing and SRE time will be on HOLD for a while.

    Later, Steve

Looks great, I love large tires under old cars it gives it that little something extra.

Just a few updated pictures. Had hoped to make more progress, but a 20% pay cut at work and other things keep me away more than I would prefer.

I'm picking up the engine from AM&P at the Nat's this May, so I hope to at least have it running for some shake down runs by fall.
