I think one of the reasons that so many people now drive trucks and full size SUVs is the fact that cars started shrinking and being built wrong wheel drive. Whether the buyers had a real need or just perception, a lot of people decided cars no longer met them. Trucks now are what cars used to be.

I think that very reason is what's given the rise to crew cab trucks. Drive through a busy town and count how many regular cab trucks you see versus 4 door trucks. Theyre everywhere. Folks need utility modern smaller cars can't provide, but still need that back seat for passengers. I know after having my crew cab, I couldn't go back to a single cab truck. Extended cab maybe, but even that'd be tough for me.

Yes. When I drive them, they make me look good, when they are not being driven, then make my garage look good. :D

...and having something that displaces large amounts of mud as I drive through them with the trailer in the yard waste facility is quite the site as well. Camrys and Accords just don't have the same affect.

I seriously bought a 1971 Cadillac Brougham "Family Limo" for 200 bucks in 1988. It had the 4 inch stretch in the back along with the "Barber shop" footrests. It had a gigantic trunk. I used it to haul trash to the dump in the trunk for extra cash! Cracked people up!!! My cousin and I, along with my 2 year old son, partied on Daytona Beach Bike Week 1991. It was raining. We sat on 2 lounge chairs in the trunk, and my 2 year old son sitting on top of the beer cooler. Life doesn't get any better!!!

Wish I had a photo... I was in line at the local builder's supply to get plywood to board up before a hurricane. A few dozen pickups and me in my '68 GS convertible. 4x8 sheets fit just between the armrests... :)

Minivans are great for hauling stuff in. I had a Plymouth voyager a few years back and hauled everything in it from firewood to sheetrock (and I usually buy the 12' long sheets. Squatted the back end down a few times lol. They can haul most of what a pick up can and so much cheaper on gas.
