Hey Guys need some advice, I have an aluminum radiator I bought off a fellow board member a while back. Does a great job cooling the engine down along with the Electric fan I installed. At the time I installed it, I must have cross threaded the oil trans cooler fiitting onto the soft aluminum radiator. I tightened the fitting down recently since I noticed the radiator was leaking a bit from the fitting and it then continued to spin. What options do I have? -Drain fresh coolant -_-, and take the radiator to a shop to weld a new bung on? - Helicoil the threads but snip the end that would block the pipe from making a seal? -Order a 1/4 fitting to 5/16 trans cooler fitting that is brass and will bite into the metal? - Just run a Heavy Duty Trans cooler/ fan Have any of you guys ran into this problem? I finally repaired my main seal and Oil Pan and apperently Murphy's law is still in effect.
I think the path of least resistance is to get an external trans cooler and put a couple of plugs in the rad
I take it might be more beneficial to run a nicer Trans cooler anyways? I did not want to obstruct or put another load on the alternator since I am running upgraded headlamps and the electric fan. Well I can just opt for a nice 1 Wire alternator since the Sniper EFI is on the horizon. Is there any particular Cooler you reccomend?
If your A/c don't work use the a/c condenser coil. That is the best one to use. Or get the biggest one you can fit with at least 3/8 lines
That would work, I was about to buy a Hayden unit with 3/8 lines aprox 11x11. I do recall my compressor being removed, I don't remember seeing the AC condenser on the car, I will check when I get home but I did not think about using that
