I thought I read some place that someone made an adapter that plugs into the cigarette lighter with a battery that will keep the radio memory alive even-though you have a kill switch that shuts down your cars power? I Drive my '72 Skylark maybe once a week and the kill switch really seems to extend the battery life and acts as an anti theft device when I park in public places but I keep losing my radio settings. Has anybody heard of such a thing? Also I have rear speakers in the back deck and want to add an under dash speaker. I had a/c which I've removed all components in the engine bay and installed an a/c delete cover. I still have all the ducked work under the dash and since my heater and defroster work great I decided to leave it alone. The speaker I came across is the DVC-4010 from http://garytayman.com/ which I think will work although installing it looks difficult because I'll need to remove most everything under the dash to get to it. Has anyone used a speaker like the one I picked out or have another suggestion? I don't want to put speakers using the kick panels I see with the speakers built in if i don't have to. Thanks, Brad
...just a 9V battery on an adapter...don't know how long it would last, but a week seems reasonable, especially with an Energizer Bunny battery...
I have the same problem..... kill switch and damn radio has no stations programmed every time I start her up.... am curious for more ideas or setups on the 9 volt battery?
Might be kind of a pain in the butt to do, but why don’t you run a separate dedicated line from your battery so when you hit the kill switch it won’t shut off your aux power feed. Or, if you already have a second dedicated wire for your sound system if you have an amp, T into that. Should solve your problem
Not a bad Idea! I wonder if one of those rechargeable phone batteries, the ones that you plug into the phone to extend the phone life would be enough juice keep the radio memory alive?
