Rally 15x7 but stamped 14x6?

Hey,


someone offered me a set of original Buick Rally wheels, 15x7. Everything sounds great so far, except on thing: The seller says the wheels are stamped 14x6 but measure 15x7.

My plan is to run 235 or 245/60/15 on the front and 255 or 265/60/15 on the back.
But I don't know if those tires will fit on wheels that "are stamped 14x6 but measure 15x7"

Did anyone come across something similar?


The seller can't help me but he's is sure that the wheels measure 15x7.
He has pictures of the "JJ" stamp and will look for other stamps so he can send me pictures. I will report any news.

Twice the difference between the "inner edge" and outside edge is just an inch? Didn't expect that.

if the rim shell in the drop centreis stamped, it is a 14" rim

 

Since it's stamped 14x6 I'd guess the seller is simply measuring incorrectly and it's not a 15x7

 

Happens a lot...that is why 14 inch hubcaps are often sold as 15's.
