Re torque heads?

The other day when I installed a new alternator braket on my '72 350-4. I noticed There was some oil seepage between the head and the block about 1 1/2" of seep 3" wide down from the seam. From what I could see only at the front right side.

I repainted the motor about 7 months ago at the time I replaced the valve cover gaskets which are doing a pretty good job. There is slight oil around a couple of the valve cover bolts but nothing a wipe from a rag every so offen won't take care of.

At one time I was thinking of pulling heads and getting a new valve job but that has to wait for a while. I doubt the heads have ever been off the car. the odometer reads 79,00o miles. So it could be that or 179,000 miles, who knows. The car does run very good and after power timing still has some good pickup and go.

So I'm thinking of re torquing the head see if would help or let sleeping dog lie? What do you guys think?

    Thanks,

    Brad

I’m thinking intake manifold gasket. And it’s running down head gasket. . Clean it and recheck after a few drives. There’s no oil pressure there. At head gasket at all. If it was coolant I would retorque.

Thanks for the tip, I can see how the coolant could run down there and look like an oil leak. I did wipe it clean and I'll take a closer look at it.

You're correct! The leak is coming from the intake manifold and running down to the head gasket. I'll retorque and see what happens.

    Thanks

Should the heads be retourqed after break in of a fresh build?? I know the intake should...just not sure about heads. Something that’s been bothering me.
