Has anyone use the stud kit from arp for a 401? Just wondering if they allow the oil pump seat. Tried using an old bolt but they are fatigue and snap when I get to 95 ft pounds. Any help will be appreciated.

    1. Is 95 ft/lbs the correct torque spec?
    2. When was the last time your torque wrench calibration was checked?

If I remember correctly you need to grind clearance for one con rod & oil pump WITHOUT using one washer.

You can't just swap in studs for bolts without getting the line Bore checked as studs load the block in a different way and the rear Bore may not be round anymore.
It must be a 1/2" shank bolt to handle a 95 ft lb torque load!

YES, needs to be checked, but it doesn't seem to affect the "Nails" as much as other engines. Probably because of the skirted block & the added nickel content of the cast iron.
