I have a 1969 Skylark with a map reading light in the rearview mirror; is there a plug I can disconnect when removing the mirror. I haven't tried removing yet just don't want to ruin the mirror I plan on having the glass replaced due to it being cloudy.
    Thanks

There is a plug, I don't have that option on mine, but I have seen pictures. I too wanted to replace the glass, but was told by my glass shop that is irreparable do to the way the mirror is ground, it's wedge shaped. He also said it would just be cheaper to buy a repop.

Yes it can be repaired. I have done a few and I posted how to do it. The last time I checked the Guide mirror with the map light option was not reproduced. The mirror without the light is reproduced. It is possible this has changed and I have not picked up on this.

Here is what the electrical connection looks like. The wire runs across the top of the windshield over to the drivers A pillar cover.

The Parts Place has repops. $100 Part# IN3516Z.

This lady restores the originals. I think the price was about the same. My buddy had a Chevelle one done and the work was nice
