before the board crashed a while ago, I had thought someone posted on how they managed to unglue and replace the clear part on their 71 lenses. I have some lenses here that might be useable for someone but the clear part is cracked pretty bad. I have spares on lenses that are trashed so willing to try it, obviously prying alone won't do it, they are pretty solid... I did a search and nothing came up. Does anyone remember the info?? I'm thinking it was Easy-Off. Some one also removed the colored lenses on the sidemarkers and had the remainder plasti-chromed.......
Well it didn't seem to work, I let it sit for hours and it still didn't even loosen it up. Lucky for me the good lens with the cracked clear part wasn't glued very good from factory (I could see dirt under the one long edge) and it pretty much peeled out...now I just need to get the clear part out of the other one without cracking it.... later Tim
I didn't realize how much info we lost in the crash. Tried searching for the old thread, that didn't take very long... hopefully the person that was working on the sidemarkers will see this thread....Karl seems to ring a bell... o No: I remember the pics and the person saying it was pretty tedious.
