Stock 2.25", 2.25". The tail pipe hanger was a little off (looks like it was made for 2" pipe, a little work there and it's really nice. I went round and round with this, always add an X pipe later. See a couple pictures: https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/1969-Buick-Restoration/131828133564349
I had Waldrons build the dual exhaust muffler for my 62 LeSabre and am very happy with it. I spent the few extra bucks and went stainless. I had my cousin bend the pipes at his shop and eliminated the resonators. My car is a driver not a show car but it sure sounds good! They make some of the systems for the bigger catalogs. Inline tube also makes quite a few parts for other catalogs! Both are made in Michigan, USA! Darryl 62 LeSabre 40 Super
I tried the In-Line route, they came back as told me they couldn't do one for my 69. Since my car is not mobile yet and our local shop is a bunch of hacks, I needed a out of the box solution. Parts Place shipped within two weeks.
Gardner Is well woth the money !! I had one slight problem....On the LH rear tail pipe of the N 25 exhaust the bend under & to the rear hanger was off . Other than that Best BY FAR !
Looks and sounds great! But if you're looking for squeezing the last bit of performance out, Gardner is NOT the way to go. If you're doing concours, they are the only place to consider. When you call them you know you are talking to car enthusiasts and not just some counter flunky. And yes, Nick, you did an excellent job of making that pipe dead-on (just like all other perfectionist work you do :TU. If you couldn't get it right, I guarantee Gardner would have gotten another pipe out no questions asked.
Hey, I ordered a Gardner exhaust today for the 72 Stage 1 conv. resto. project. I couldn't really afford it, but decided to take the plunge anyway. I've got about 6 weeks to come up with the scratch anyway.:dollar:
Now if I can ever get my rear in gear and get some work done on the car. I figured maybe if I start getting some of those finishing touches that I would get some motivation.
Iused a Torque Tech 2.5" mandrel bent system on my 70. Perfect fit, great sound, and picked up power over the compression bent 2.5" system.
I decided to cancel my order for the Gardner system. I sent Eric an e-mail, so I hope he isn't too upset as it was scheduled to be in about a week and a half.
Tim, Eric replied and said he erased me from the database, so I guess not. I had posted a thread in the Bench asking if anybody wanted to take my place in line, but never got any response. I decided I was so far away from needing it, and money is really tight so it was best to hold off for the time being.
Yeah never saw the post in the bench, I don't have much time lately to just hang out but got the auto notification to this thread when you posted...oh well, not a big deal. Hope all is well.
I'm still leaning towards selling the car, if not I will have to be taking it down a few notches from a concours resto. Maybe build it like a 2- to a 3+.
You know, one thing I have learned is when the build is very nice I become a bit paranoid about it. I'm always very protective of these cars but the vert even more so, simply because every puddle is now a 2 hour cleaning ordeal to keep it nice. Watch the weather channel now more than ever before a drive The hardtop is a mess underneath, I still plan on doing a frame off at some point but it will be more for cleanliness than 100% correctness if that makes sense?? Going 100% concours is a lot of extra money, and unless you plan to compete at car shows a waste of money IMHO. Not knocking the guys that do, more power to them and its awesome to see, but I have to live in the real world and pay real bills and I'm not rich. One night when I had my convertible at work, everyone was looking at it top and bottom, they were all impressed but the next day I asked if anyone noticed the date coded plug wires? Nope. Correct plating on the brake lines? Nope. Color of the rear diff bolts (incorrect)? Nope. And these are people who like cars. The little details for 100% correct drive the price up huge but have minimal payback. Build a solid car that looks good and have some fun. That's what they were all about in the first place. Just some rambling..
I'm kind of thinking of pulling the body off and getting the rolling chassis restored and then kind of go from there. I'm sure it would only help if that was done to sell it as a project, and if I keep it at least a sizeable piece of the restoration will be out of the way. I will have to be careful as the RH quarter is totally removed, so the body may have a little flex in it.
