I emailed Alphaparts on what their stance was on new panels. Here is their response: Hello Luke, I have tried to reach the Buick community thru your enthusiast group before, I will state our capabilities again. Wolf Steel is hand making panels for a wide variety of cars. We do NOT stamp large panels here. We are not equipped to make hoods, door skins, or complete 1/4 panels. Large panels require large stamping dies; large $$ up front for the manufacturer. What are we READY to make for you guys?? RIGHT NOW! How about lower front fender sections, rocker panels, floors, & lower 1/4 panels in two sections. What models are we talking about? Any model that is called a Buick is eligible. WHAT IS THE CATCH to this good news?? Some of you kind souls with junk parts are going to have to mail me old panels. I mean rusty and nasty, bullet holes, and bondo are fine. As long as the panel shows dimensions and necessary details. These rusty panels are our MODELS! I need 1 part to make both left and right parts. What are the PRICES for my parts?? Please look up our web page; www.alfaparts.net check out the parts we are making for some of the models that we have good coverage for and your prices would be similar. Thank you, Allen Hall
parts Cool - any one have old parts they can send in? Prices look OK. Lower front fender repair kits would be nice! - Bill
HEy luke, I am willing to help out for this, I just want the pieces back when they are finished, I have both side lower fronts.. Both are in great condition, should I contact them personally and talk to them, or what? Let me know ASAP, everyone needs 67 parts..
Hi Jess - contact Alfaparts direct and work out the deal with them. Thanks for helping your fellow 67 brothers! - Bill
I just emailed them asking about lower 1/4 patch panels for 64/64 Skylark/GS. I don't have enough for a pattern but maybe someone else has? Anybody else need these same panels?
I need some 65 1/4s Boy could I use two new quarters, this is what I have to look at every day and its frustrating, can some one help me fix this
Ouch, Mine aren't quite that bad ou: I got a quick response from Allen: Hi Dave, I would be happy to make these for you guys. If there is a trim that attaches to the wheel opening, this would be helpful to get this part just right. Allen Hall I don't really have enough left of my lower 1/4's to send him for a pattern. I'm going to start a new thread for this in the Repro parts section and see if there is enough interest here to get something started.
Well I have been in contact with Allen and I am sending him the power sections for the front fenders I have so they can make heels for 67 skylarks. I suggest you stay in contact with him and cut out your quarters, and send them to him, and see what he can do, cause he wants anything thats rusty . But really who cares if alot of people want them, if you need them and he is not charging a huge amount to stamp them out, isn't it better to finally get the parts you need?
Jess, I'm "assuming" that if he takes a rusty part, that at least the outer dimension cannot be rusted away. That quarter pictured above is not only dented around the edge but is missing material as well. Not dis'ing the manufacturer here, just that I would think that they would want at least the outline to be intact. Lord knows I could be wrong though. o No: p
Got concur with Ken :TU: Original outer dimmension & even more so, original contours are very important. Might be that I'm too picky... might also be because every commercially avail hand form patch panel I've ever attempted to use were no where near the contour tollerances I demand in a panel for restoration purposes. Got Posi Roger :3gears:
In their defense, I bought a full set of floor panels from Wolf Steel for my 66 Alfa Spider, and the welder told me they were the best-fitting floors he ever worked with. Dan
I got this response I got this response from Him also Calvin, we can make the quarters from the lower horizontal line down. We would make those in probably 2 pieces. $250. per side. The catch is we NEED Patterns! Someone has to send me a raggedy quarter as a template. Subject: 1965 Buick Skylark quarters Allen can you help me with this I need quarters for my 65 GS, here are some pics of my car and some pics of other 65 GS, im stuck cause I cant move forward on this Calvin I think its worth a try, mines are not only a little rusty but banged and twisted too so I know it wont help, some has to have some thing better to use because at that price that's a pretty good deal
Hey Jess - thanks for sending the front fender parts! Thats a big help! :TU: I'm sure I will need them one day! ou: - Bill
I will be sending those out this week, and next I am working on getting him door skins, and rear quarter sections. Just because he is the ONLY person who seems to be interested in helping out people who NEED these parts.. But I will know after I get mine back to see how well they work.
At least we've got some comunication going on here. Sadly my quarters are shot too for the 69, though my trim is in great shape.
Have you guys seen the parts he has as samples to show what he needs? Have you sent him an email or called him to see if what you have is insufficient? Most of you guys are just assuming. If you have a doubt, ask, the worst your going to hear is that you were wrong and he can use them, right?
Jess, Not trying to diss Alpha. Have also had a lot of problems with repop sheetmetal coming from overseas & for the most part, those pieces were made from digitized dies. In rereading the 1st post, the " I need 1 part to make both left and right parts" does bother me. A few times I've run into lower fender patch panel fit problems where this was assumed. FWIW, I ck'ed Wolf Steel's product offerings, & at least the hand formed patch panels I've bought & attempted to use, were not shown as being sold on their site. Best you can prob do is start sending examples of the panels you need & hope for the best. Good luck! Got Posi? :3gears: Roger
65 q's one of you members has 5-6 65 q/p laying around.i know, cause you sent me pics! too far gone for me to buy/ship.but this might be the place to donate one to! this would be too cool :bglasses:
