Restoration of Trim (Stainless and Chrome)

The paint and body work was just finished on my car, about a year later then expected but its done now. I am getting ready to put the trim back on, but some of it just doesn't look nice on the new paint.

I am looking for a shop or person in the New England area that can restore my stainless trim and chrome trim pieces to a daily driver condition. Some of the stainless pieces have a small dent, so it may take a bit more then just some polishing. The chrome pieces are actually in pretty good shape, not much pitting. I also need a lot of the trim clips and I am not finding them to be as plentiful as I thought they would be.

I don't really have the time or experience right now to do the work myself and would prefer a shop to do the work but if its going to cost too much I will give it a shot. Thanks in advance.

Nuchrome has gotten some bad reviews on this Board.

For the stainless I can give you a great place but it requires shipping it to New York. I ship it to New York from NC.

Check with Nick Serwo(Ivyland Collision) or Mike Brennen. Smeone did a nice job on Mike's trim.

I use The Finishing Touch in Chicago.

Their work is top notch, but not cheap.

I had them do all the stainless on my car, and it came out PERFECT.

Jim, would you post or pm the person in NY please? I need to get my 69 rocker panels refinished.

Thanks for some of the recomendations.

I would like the NY information as well.

What I am afraid of doing is sending it somewhere without having a rough ball park of what its going to cost. If it is too much money then I may try and do some of it myself or even look at other options. I think it was on here or in one of the many magazines I saw someone with powder coated trim.

There is another place call CT Chrome that I was thinking of checking out as well unless some people have had some bad experiences.

    Thanks again.

For the chrome it needs to be re-chromed try New England Plating in E. Hartford Connecticut. I had my Stage-1 valve covers done by them and they are Awsome. I have my N-25 bumper there now. $500 for the bumper which is real good price for triple plating in New England area. I am not sure if they do stainless repair and polish. I have a friend that is big into the Buick Club of America and one of his cars won gold at the national meet tell me about a good stainless guy in Fall River. His name is Joe Graxie at Bright Works. Friend told me he is really fair price and does nice work. As far as NU chrome like Jim said I would stay away. I have seen their work at a display tent they set up at shows and was not impressed. Again this was their display.
