Have a bit of break on car and wanted to share some pics. Decided to make one thread (post) and delete all the others I have posted and try to continue to add to this one. August was 6 years of working on/off and collecting parts but I finally have some decent progress. Body left in November 2016 to get body work and paint, started on in late March 2017 still in progress. Body was blasted/primed. Found some rust issues on trunk drops and outer wheelhouses. Deck lid had some issues along with passenger door in a couple spots.
Passenger side was worse than driver side on drops? Floors had some areas that needed fixed as well. Blasting the entire car does open up some surprises that you don't think are there.
Nice work. To correctly repair rust and any other body issues takes a lot of time. But makes a huge difference in the outcome. You're doing it right.
Hood, fenders, doors have body work completed. After trunk drops/outer wheelhouses are completed, NOS GM full length 69 convertible quarters will be installed. Will post pics when completed in progress now.
I'm not doing the bodywork, JC Autobody (GSJoe) is, I decided the bodywork/paint needed to be done correctly and Joe was the person for the job.
Terry I'm just completing a 20 month restore on the body of my 67. I can certainly appreciate what you are doing. Good luck and all the best.
Bout time you posted some pics, Terry... LOL. Looking good!! Do you still need any bolts/ screws? I found another bucket....
4 Speed transmission rebuilt by Dennis Maroudas at DME inc. Shifter was also taken apart plated and re-built. Linkage was plated correctly for 69 and adjusted. Great service.
I sent the rear to blasted and re-built by Monzaz. Once rear-end was completed I did the body work and paint. Its a correct 69 Stage One 3.64 Code ON Posi rear with correct date codes. Rear as received... Rear blasted/re-built by Monzaz I finished the body work/paint and assembly
I finally completed the bodywork on the frame, taking out the pits. This is about 3 weeks ago when it was finally painted.
Got tons of pics but you get the idea...Lots of NOS parts on the Engine and Frame including a couple really hard to find items like NOS Manifolds , Engine Side Grease Boot and the Power Steering Belt. All bushings, bearings, universals and insulators are NOS GM correct. This is about as correct part wise to rolling off factory as I can get. Will post more pics of the body as it nears completion.
