Hello, folks...just a quick question...are the rocker assemblies interchangeable between a 1971 455 and 350. I am looking at installing a set of rollers on my GS350 but am kind of put off by the cost, TA wants almost $1000 for a set....saw a set online from Jegs, I believe, for half that, but for a 455....they look the same....any info and help is appreciated!
    Thanks!!!

455 and 350 are not interchangeable. There are issues with some of the offshore rockers........don't cheap out on this part.

Some of the issues others have had with cheaper rocker stem from bad bearings, rollers on the tip not being round, and rockers actually breaking

Thanks, Bens99gtp....I just bought my GS recently and it had a tick. Tightening the headers didn't stop it so the valve cover came off. I found a really beat up pushrod and rocker. The guy that built it says it has a mild cam and heavier valve springs but he used stock rockers and rods. I'm not racing the car so if I can use a good set of heavy duty rockers and rods it should solve the issue. The rollers were just a thought.

Are your rockers the aluminium version?
Stamped steel GM style are more duarable.
I may have a good 350 set for sale soon....

They are stamped steel...and they were replaced during the rebuild. Look like regular stock pieces...

Post pics of your problem rockers.
The stamped steel was the fix for the aluminum rockers wearing prematurely.
They will holdup to decent sized cam & moderate springs. Most don't want to $pend the ca$h for the rollers.

Looks like the hardened ball end came off the pushrod? See if it is shorter than the rest.

You may just need one or more rockers and a couple pushrods?

That was my guess...its about 5/16 shorter than the one its paired with...I just want to be sure that with the stiffer springs that it was just a freak thing and not going to be a continuing problem

Unless your valve train geometry is way off after the rebuild, it might just be a freak event.

Might be an optical illusion but it looks almost like you have a '69 and older pushrod. Those didn't oil through the pushrod like a '70 and newer.

Could very well be, The peened down top doesn't seem to have an oiling hole, but the other end does...and after digging through the parts given to me by the previous owner, the original rods are definitely thicker...gonna put a caliper on them and see...the replacements just might not have been stout enough, or incorrect...
