When I received the timing cover from TA a few years ago, first thing I did was mock up the pump gears with distributor, there was a slight binding with them assembled as I rotated the distributor, I didn't like it, I called TA they said it would be oko_O
The TA pump cover/adapter relief valve wasn't staked, THAT blew out when I was on the highway resulting in 20 psi at 70 mph, luckily I monitor the gauges and slowed down.
I called TA and asked if I should stake it, or return it, he said just stake it.
Im not bashing TA by any means, its just the influx of foreign parts for a long outta production engine, and EVERY retailer is subject to selling these parts, it just seems I get alotta the questionable ones.
The reason I erred on the big side was the gears felt "funny" as I turned 'em if the clearance was any tighter, kind of a smooth notchy feeling, NOT dragging tho.

Hone gear sides with 1,000 - 600 grit, on surface plate or glass. Use layout dye,or prussion bluing. Assemble with tight gasket to see wear rubbing occurs. Work on that area to balance clearance evenly between pump cover. In other words, fine tune it.....

Put the pump back together, prime it, drop distributor back in, I go to plug it in and I say “ what’s this loose wire” time for a new connector :rolleyes::rolleyes:

What if you got rid of it and then it suddenly appeared back in the garage? Kinda like the rubber ball in the movie "The Changeling" (with George C Scott). Anyone ever see that movie?

Maybe those ghosts don't like you hiding all the artifacts in the corners of the house. Put them all in one place, maybe a nice glass case and see what happens.

you should have had Michaels put that bottom end together with the oil pump and had them change the direction of oil flow thru the cam journals like they did with mine. I never had a problem with that timing cover and oil pressure if I am not on the highway running hard at 3 grand I am at 20 lbs at idle in drive and it never drops below 15 after being very hot in drive. I have a light that comes on at 15 lbs.

Larry I think I'd wig out LOLOL!
I haven't moved any of these religious thingys, they're from the original owner's of the house.
Years ago I put eaves vents in the garage, as I was cutting, I came across a paper bag set up on the inside ledge of the eves, inside the bag were two brand new in the box wood tobacco pipes from the '62 Worlds Fairo_Oo_Oo_O
I thought this kinda stuff happened only in ooold century type homes?
We have a simple 3 bedroom rectangle ranch with basement:rolleyes:

There IS some weird stuff that happens here for sure, Im too chicken to put everything together, HAHAHA, enough happens as is:p
Michael did tell me of his oil mod around the cam bearings, and that he wasn't a fan of the grooved cam bearings, but I didn't ask why, so he didn't elaborate, MAYBE I shoulda asked huh!

I found magazines in the basement rafters at the foundation and they were from the 30's.
Maybe you should call up those ghost people to see what they find!

So what did you put in those pipes to break them in. Maybe take a trip to Colorado;)
Hey maybe it might calm down the Gods in your house. lol

Well I really hope the motor stays together for ya Are you using synthetic Mobile 1 That is all I have ever used in my engine for the entire 25 years I have run it. Mike did not like it but I have to say when i pulled that pan off at one point it was as clean as the day it was built. I would like to look at my rocker shafts to see what is going on there I might do that this year I want to put in a solid lifter cam but I don't think I will mess with a roller unless I tear it all down and Hopefully get alum heads.

I am going to start a new job in June and I hope this one takes me over the top

I got a question you ever have a dog go into seizures my dog has had one every 2 hours since yesterday and did it all night he is going to vet today and I really hope he is ok. we rescued him from the shelter and he is a very good watch dog
He is a Australian Cattle dog.

Definitely get your dog to the vet ASAP!
My dog, Scheerea, shes a mut, a mix of Shepard and Black Lab, she has epilepsy.
She started her seizures years ago as a pup (shes 13 now) I'd come home from work, and she pooped in her pen, this went on for a few days, then she had one when I was home, I layed beside her and comforted her, she pooped, Im thinking "AH, THATS WHY SHES POOPING IN HER PEN!"
Shes been on Phenobarbital for ever it seems, she was suppose to take 3 a day, I gave her 1 a day, no seizures since, her blood work has always been perfect, as phenobarbital effects liver function...… the less the better:D
We had a family dog that had epilepsy, same med, but the dose made the family dog dopey, I didn't want my little girl being like that, I just wanted the seizures to stop, and 1 pill a day is the ticket for her, the vet agrees!!
We had one of our Collies have just a few seizures, but the vet said if it continues, bring her back in.
Sit or lay by your dog while he/she is having the seizure, talk to 'em, console 'em, comfort 'em, do NOT let them try to get up and walk, especially around stairs!
They may drool on you, or even poop, but whatever;)
Let me know Guy what the vet says and how it worked out for you two.
Remember, its OK to underdose… the less the better as long as its controlling the seizures:D
    Obviously don't overdose:rolleyes:

Im sure it will, it runs strong, doesn't do anything weird.... yet LOL, but Im confident once these minor issues are sorted its gonna be great!
Im now using Valvoline VR1 10/30
Napa didn't have Brad Penn, that's what I was running from Summit Racing.
I received the rest of my roller bearings for my rockers, so I gotta install those, AND a new connector for the distributor.
I'd check your shafts for wear just going by how mine looked after 20 some years:eek::eek:
Good luck on the new job Guy, whatcha gonna be doing???

Not going to use Phenobarbital they are giving a different drug. Not sure if it was caused by Advantage X, covers ticks that was started Saturday. The dog is 10 years old now so if everything else checks out it could be a brain tumor. After 2.30 in the morning they stopped for the 12th time. I came home early from work, went to vet in morning. the dog was resting and was able to walk just seemed to be worn out. The vet kept him for overnight.

Going to run a 6 color Heidelberg printing press for new job. I ran the same one in 2005 when brand new at a different company.

Installed the other 16 new bearings for my rockers. Fired it up, man those Johnson’s are QUIET right from the get go. Haven’t taken it for a ride as my DD van is blocking it, had to drop the tank to install another new fuel pump, so I’m blocked in for a few days. I found on the invoice info about the Johnson lifters, kinda interesting. 52C6982F-A8F5-454E-9C2B-37505CCCD9EC.jpeg

Mine look identical to Mart's. No clips on the wheel pins. Is there any way to tell if they are Crower or Morel?

Also, ONE of the lifters has the link upside down so the slot is on the opposite side as all the others.

    Does that matter?

    Thanks Guys!
