I'm really gonna miss his presence at the next GS Nats. It'll just seem "off" without him.

    Hi everybody,

I bought Ron Mooney's old Stage 1 a few months ago and it now resides down here in New Zealand.

I have a few things that I want to do before I get it back on the road again.

I'm in the process of doing the following, new heater core, replace the aluminium radiator with the re-cored original, sort out the A/C, new brake booster, master cylinder and rear wheel cylinders.

Repair a small amount of rust under battery tray, new tires, new gas tank, replace the old exhaust and mufflers, new windshield and a few other bits and pieces.
I am really looking forward to having it ready for summer cruising.
I have bought a personalized plate for the car. Moon Buick P Plate.png

That's awesome, would love to see pictures when you are done. Are you re doing the N25 exhaust? I would keep the aluminum radiator if I was you.

    Thank you,
The aluminum radiator did not fit properly, it was mainly held on by tape and was loose and so was the fan shroud because of it. I have had the old radiator made into a four row so it should be fine.

I will be doing the N25 exhaust, I need to do the whole exhaust as it has rusted out a lot, probably from sitting for a while.

I bet it would fit nice with electric fans.

It wasn't a direct fit radiator. Ron put the tape there to close off the gap that all 71-72 fan shrouds have. You'll also have that gap with the stock radiator. Even with the aluminum radiator, his engine would sometimes run hot. I guess you will find out if the 4 core will cut it, hope so.

Yeah, Ron never replaced anything unless it fell off the car:D It needed a new exhaust when Ron owned the car. Take a look at the header flanges. I remember one or both sides would rub as he exited his garage area. You had to go up a big hill to get out. You can see part of it behind the car.

Happy belated birthday Mooney. June 30 same day as my grandson Jake. He really liked hanging out with Mooney when he went on vacation in South Carolina as well as all the Buick meets
