I want to replace the electric pump the previous owner installed, running on the right side of the car.

What is the diameter of the original line on a 455 Skylark?

The body is on the car, so i'm not sure if i can get an original line in there.
Maybe by cutting it in sections and using compression fittings.

    Cheers!

    TrunkMonkey Totally bananas

I replaced mine ('64 Skylark boxed frame) with a 3/8 inch stainless one piece with the body on. (on jack stands, rear axle hanging fully down)

I had cross member, exhaust, emerg. brake line cable transmission out for other work, but you can block the transmission in order to get the cross member out of the way.

First I tied a pull cable to the front of the fuel line, then cut and pulled the old one out.

I put the new line in the front portion of the frame first, then pulled it as far forward through the frame as I could, (there is an area right around the transmission cross-member where the fuel line and brake line "cross/half-twist" each other, and I was able to route it that way then pushed through the front frame. This may be different if fuel line and brake line are on opposite sides on the '72) then bowed the center in order to work the back part over the axle, and into place. Then I worked it into the clips.

I was able to hand bend and straighten the line without much effort, and was surprised how easy it was to get it in.

(Figured, I would give it a shot before I resorted to raising the body off the frame, and chance breaking the body mount bolts and blind nuts)

I think the '72 should be pretty close to the same.

Get black nylon braided line and feed it through the frame on the drivers side.
