So I placed an order with TA for some parts. Overall the parts are fine other than this timing set.

I pull the timing set(double roller) out & it's from S.A. Gear. TA 1522C. TA said they no longer have the TA 1522B.

I've never heard of S.A. Gear. The sprocket says made in U.S.A., chain in China.

I guess I was expecting a Cloyes or a Rollmaster. Not saying it's bad, just an unknown brand to me.

Anybody have any experience with this brand? Is it good, bad, unknown?

The warehouse is on the S.W. side of Chicago. Here's the website. They swear all USA made stuff, but aftermarket amazon outfits can grab the USA made chain for a different retail box and substitute a $2.00 China chain. Big Box motor parts stores are good for that. You should call them direct. ws

    Kyle,
Cloyes discontinued there dbl roller chain set for the 455 Buick a few years ago. SA Gear had the nicest 3 key set I could find to replace the Cloyes. That's why for the substitution. This set is a bit of an upgrade based on 3 key way sets in my opinion. The Cloyes was a cast iron upper gear, this set has a billet upper gear. We have been selling SA Gear ever since Dynagear was shut down. A lot of the folks from Dynagear ended up at SA Gear. I have never had any trouble with these sets, ever. There is a separate part number for the Rollmaster timing set, TA1524. Also to let you know that the the TA1526B replacement IWIS chain for the rollmaster will work with that set.
