A few members here on the board took a look at this convertible unfortunately there is a lot lurking underneath the bamboo paint and under the hood for one thing it needs a new firewall rusted out behind the brake booster that should tell you everything you need to know about this car. Run don't walk !
Not only that, but did you notice the short armrests? in 1970,except for the cheap Special, they all had the long armrests! Do I remember wrong?Maybe, but that's what I remember.Bruno.
Thank you for this valuable information, i was about to have a look at this car. This again tells don't drive to far for these cars. I am still looking for a decent basis for my dream 455 convertible project. Most of the cars are either rustet out or bondo queens. So i am still on the lookout but the budget is 25k to leave some room for tinkering.
Yeah, closer inspection reveals a lot of hidden problems. The interior issues were enough to scare me off without even looking at the firewall. It looks like it was exposed to an awful lot of moisture, the type associated with long term interior but not climate controlled storage, - in other words, a barn. Barns and convertibles do not mix well; fabric doesn't respond to mildewy atmospheres.
Interior was customized - looked at this car for board member if anyone is interested - Frank summarizes my thoughts.
