    Hi All,

I purcahsed a 1970 455 Stage 1 that was originaly in a 70 GSX to put in my 1972 Chevelle. I'm doing some mods to the engine like the TA 413 cam, I'm getting the heads ported with some polish work done on the bowls and combustion chamber, I'm getting new valve springs, and am getting the valves cut with a 3 angle valve job, using the stock intake until able to get the new SPX intake, planning on using a K&N air assembly, and maybe a bottle of NOS in the future. I'll also be using a set of long tube headers with an X or H pipe (not sure which) which will lead into 30 series flowmasters with dumps before the rear axle. Will the stock Q-jet that came with the engine be sufficient to run this engine??? Any cooments about the Q-jet That could help me??

    Thanks,

    Gerald

If you want your mileage to go in the toilet when cruising, then get the speed demon. If you want a nice streetable carb that is good into the 9's, then call John.

    Q Jet

I recommend Doug Roe's book on Rochester carburetors to everybody. It's good to understand how Q Jets work even if you decide to send the carb to a builder.

Get it on Amazon for less than $20.

Where is this John Osbourne from?? I'm all the way up here in Newfoundland, Canada. It would probably cost me a fortune to get my carb sent to him. I'll probably try and get hold of him and see what it would cost. Anyone know where I'd be able to find some Stage 1 fender emblems, I'm planning on putting them just below the SS emblems on the fenders if I can get them. Think they should look pretty cool. Thanks for all the info guys.

That's gonna be the coolest Chevelle on Earth if it has the Stage 1 and the Stage 1 emblems.

    Thanks Man,
I always enjoy those kind of comments about my car it makes me feel like all the blood ,sweat, and tears are worth it lol. I got a pic the other day of the Stage 1 but its too big to put on the site and I don't know how to down size it too put it on here. So I got the proof of the engine lol. I'll have to e-mail it to people who want to see until I figure how to downsize anyway thanks for the comments. Later

Does anybody know where I could pick up a set of Stage 1 Emblems to???

  10. Gerald, email the pics to me at gramlow@cableone.net and I'll resize them and send them back to you, or I could just post them here too. :) Have you checked the Year One catalog? They offer lots of emblems.

I believe you can still get them from GM for the '73 and up Buicks. They are the same as the earlier ones except for the pin location, which in your case wouldn't matter as you'll have to drill new holes for them.

I haven't got a catalogue from year one but I guess I should order one. I'll send you the pic David thanks for all the help. I'll have some pics of the rebuild soon and I'll post them I'll be starting in a week or two when I finish my other car.

My picture of the engine is still to big, they won't allow me to put it on the site. Had a pretty funny encounter with the service department at the local Buick dealership the other day, I went to check the price on some Stage 1 emblems for my Chevelle the guy honestly said they don't carry anything like that and said he never heard tell of a Stage 1 buick anyway. I think he thought I was giving him BS. So thats the last time I ask them for anything else. I found that pretty amazing that he never heard about a Stage 1 and works at a Buick dealership just figured someone would find this amusing.
