  1. I'm always amazed at the difference seemingly small things can make in a cars appearance. first picture is of the bellhousing installed but not cleaned up.. at first i was just going to degrease it and remove all dirt and then paint it aluminum color, then i decided to go ahead and bead blast it.. I liked the finish after blasting so much that i cleared it and installed as is. first pic is before second is after..I like after

thats not paint on that bellhousing.. it's just shiny :Brow:

What did you use to bead blast the bell housing (what bead material)? I really like how well it cleaned up. Also, what did you use to clear coat it? Is it a special high temp clear?

    Thanks!

I've used larger-diameter glass beads and it gives a 'shinier' metal finish than fine beads. Fine beads, especially well-used ones, can give alum a 'white' look. I'll have to post some pics later.....

  7. here is proof that you dont have to use the ultra rare 67 4 speed parts to stuff a manual transmission in a 64-67 A body. I have used ALL the original V6parts and everything lines up and fits perfectly. Note the NOS Z bar boots i found on Ebay. they really add to the look. I love details

Yes, I saw that boot on eBay....lucky for you, it doesn't fit a '66.:Brow:
The V6 linkage also works perfectly with a 300 V8.
And see that bushing in the top of the Z-bar for the clutch pedal rod?.....buy one for a corvette sway bar end link.....it fits perfectly!:TU:
    BTW, VERY nice work!

thanks for the compliments. can you give me any more info on the corvette sway bar part? what year corvette? i'm assuming front sway bar. Bob

The info was posted on the board in the past, it fits the later year GS's too:

Quote: >>The bushing looks the same as 68-72 Z-bar bushing. I use a GM bushing and trim the ends(very minor). GM Part # 3872955 - worth a try. Mike Garrison also sells these.<<<

The outer sleeve is the same size, but the inner sleeve and rubber bushing need to be shortened by 1/16" to 1/8"

It's a 'rear sway bar link bushing' for a 65-82 'vette.

  11. picked up the fenders today and cleaned the buffing residue off them. i'm sure my painter hates me for being such a picky customer. I requested the inside of the fenders get media blasted and painted semi gloss black. they look almost as nice inside as outside :Brow: the color doesnt want to show up as vivid in the pictures but it really looks good on all the parts so far.

Looking good, got a question for you, Im doing the same motor and tranny swap, are you going to use headers or manifolds? Im in the process of putting the manifolds on and it looks like the z-bar is going to hit the manifold. Have you test fitted yours with the exhaust?

....and which engine mount pads? Do the '67 pads mount the engine on inch further back?

you made me nervous for a moment. that was the only thing i hadnt checked when i test fited all my manual trans linkage. i just went out and bolted on my drivers exhaust manifold and although it will be close there will be plenty of clearance. i'll have to use a special exhaust donut since i'm using 67 manifolds and dont want to reuse the heat riser assy.

if you are going the manual trans route you cant use the TA frame pad relocation option, the Z bar must be paralell to the frame in ortder not to bind. if you move the engine back 1" then your Z bar will be at an angle and not directly push on the clutch fork. I used TA frame pads but in the stock location.

  15. According to TA there are no headers made that even come close to fitting the 64-67 A bodies with a manual trans. not even the stage 2 heads and headers which are supposed to be best fitting 64-67 header of all time

I had Poston headers and manual trans on my first 64 Skylark with home-made frame mounts. The linkage was from a GS-350 I think. I was a kid and making something out of nothing, but it all worked...

  19. The Body came home last night..I am extremely pleased with how it turned out. sorry i dont have a wide angle shot showing the color better but trust me it looks good. They did almost as nice a job on the bottom as they did on the top.
