Local government restrictions put in place to minimize the COVID-19 outbreak have limited the amount of workers we can have in our building, and will likely limit our manufacturing and order fulfillment, but we are still open for business! I got that email today too. Talk about good timing, I’m about to order seat covers, door panels, headliner, and vinyl top from them for a non-Buick that we are working on. SMS is not cheap so 19% off will save me more than a few bucks.
With all the car sites seems to be in California or back east. Its nice to see someone local. Im over in Vancouver. I need to get moving on my interior.
SMS, while they are fantastic, would probably be triple if not more than a Legendary interior. They specialize in reproducing vinyl and fabric that is not available anywhere else and you will pay a premium for that service, but what you get will be perfect.
We have purchased from SMS in the past for unusual interior parts that were not available anywhere else (i.e. door panels for a '69 Chevelle 300). The they had to make dies in order to duplicate our parts so the turnaround time was long and the price was not cheap, but the finished product was top notch. For a more common vehicle, here is a price comparison from Feb 2020 for the gold interior for my '69 GTO. If my interior was black, I would use Legendary because their quality has always been excellent for us. However, I am ordering from SMS because their 1969 gold vinyl sample more closely matches the grain and color of the original. I will also be using SMS for my vinyl top because Legendary only offers two colors, black or white, and I do not want to have to dye the top if I can get it in the correct color from SMS for a little more. Legendary door panels $774 assembled SMS door panels $895 assembled Legendary seat covers $659 SMS seat covers $1195 Legendary headliner $166 SMS headliner $289 Legendary vinyl top $279 (only available as white or black, but I need dark fawn (dark brown)) SMS vinyl top $359 (and available in the correct dark fawn) btw, if you have an oddball material color, both Legendary and SMS will promptly send you free samples.
Gary, what paint color is that Goat? It sounds like you’re going the extra mile on a really cool car. Patrick
I purchased rear seat covers for my 69 Skylark with buckskin interior from legendary interior and fabric to do the front seats from SMS and they matched perfectly
When I had my front bench seat modified and recovered in my wagon I wanted to use the original style ribbed rubber back material. SMS had the exact stuff. Quick service and excellent quality.
My '69 GTO is paint code 40, which is Mayfair Maize (called Cameo Cream by Buick, Butternut Yellow for Chevrolet) with gold bucket seat interior (looks more like a tan), and a Dark Fawn (very dark brown) top. The colors plus the full size wheel covers and white line tires might explain why it sat on the dealer's lot for four months before it finally sold in June 1969. We had some paint mixed before stripping the original paint from the side of the cowl area and the local paint store was able to easily match it perfectly. Used the new paint on a washer and taped it to the car and in the sun or in the garage, it seems to match great.
Now click the "X" to exit the 'sale special, and click on the Covid-19 outbreak. ALL New York businesses are closed... https://www.legendaryautointeriors.com/covid-19-message/
Sounds like a car I’d spend a lot of time looking over! What drivetrain? (It’d be super cool if it were a RAIV car!) My first GS was a ‘70 455, Harvest Gold with Gold vinyl top and Burnished Saddle buckets. Sadly, I didn’t finish it. Patrick
